The Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, is proving to be a bountiful place for Sha’Carri Richardson. After the 24-year-old qualified in the women’s 100m final event for the Paris Olympics four days ago, Richardson just sent out another stern message to her opponents moments ago in the 1st round of the 200m sprint, as she scooped up the world lead once again (21.99 seconds). With the final qualifying race scheduled two days later, the reigning 100m world champ’s fans are going haywire.

At last year’s World Championships in Budapest, Sha’Carri Richardson was edged past by Shericka Jackson of Jamaica and the USA’s Gabby Thomas. However, the fans’ unwavering faith in the sprinter might be just the thing Sha’Carri needs to push herself for her second spot in Team USA.

The official NBC Olympics & Paralympics account shared Sha’Carri’s thoughts after she dominated the women’s 200m heats at the Olympic Team Trials. While Richardson said that the pressure to perform well hasn’t diminished even after her ticket to Paris was confirmed for the 100m race, she hailed the crowd for their resolute support. “…it’s a phenomenal feeling. I feel that as if they sense growth, they sense genuine love,” Sha’Carri said in the post-race interview.

At April’s Miramar Invitational, the world stood witness to how Sha’Carri wasn’t hesitant to extend her helping hand to her colleagues when Shashalee Forbes picked up an injury while performing. Keeping on par with her actions, today Sha’Carri once again talked about how growing together is the best bet for athletes like her to achieve greatness.

I’m excited for the love, that I can grow. As they grow the world grows and I grow with it,” said a gleeful Sha’Carri. However, while she forecasts another titillating performance a couple of days later, her fans can’t stop gushing how thrilling it has been watching her dish out spectacles on the tracks.

Richardson’s fans head over heels for her display

Considering how her Olympic dream was met with an abrupt turn of events three years ago in Tokyo, it’s natural that Richardson’s fans want her to clinch every feat she possibly can. Keeping up with the high expectations, the sprinter has also dished some incredible performances since last year, and Audrey rightfully comments, “Her comeback should really be studied,” as she noted how the athlete looks to be at the zenith of her prowess.

Sha’Carri is currently in the 5th and 31st spot in the women’s 100m and 200m lists, respectively. Both of these lists are headed by the track and field icon Florence Griffith-Joyner, (10.49 and 21.34). However, one fan thinks the reigning 100m world champ might be inching closer to surpass the legendary Flo-Jo. “I believe Sha’Carri Richardson will break Florence Joyner’s 200m record in this year’s Olympics,” speculates the fan.

Sha’Carri’s start was so incredible that during the last few meters of the race, the LSU athlete could even afford to take a breather while her opponents continued with attempts to catch up with her. Referring to the jaw-dropping display of prowess, Pamela commented, “She literally slowed down at the end. Whew. Sha’Carri Richardson is nothing to be played with. I’m soooo excited to see her dominate in Paris.

Sha’Carri Richardson is simply that girl,” reads the post of another fan who seems to be celebrating Richardson’s latest victory with a drink of their own.

Like many of her fans, her coach also can’t wait to see what the French capital holds for his star student, and many fans believe her recent form is something that others will need to watch out for on the big stage. “This woman’s a beast,” the comment made by the fan in the comment section of the NBC post is the right kind of emotion that every track fan in the country is feeling right now.
