Noah Lyles has been making waves in the ongoing 2023 World Athletics Championship in Budapest. His athletic prowess was recently on display when Noah Lyles was crowned the 100m men’s world champion in Budapest. It was a closely fought race, but Lyles managed to secure a gold medal with his personal best of 9.83 seconds. His time of 9.83 seconds is now the 15th best time in the men’s 100m event history, with the record still belonging to Usain Bolt’s 9.58 seconds, set in 2009. Overall, it was a competitive race as Letsile Tebogo, Zharnel Hughes, and Oblique Seville all reached the finish line at the 9.88-second mark.

With the 100m event out of the way, Lyles had set his sights on the 200m event. But before the track star could book his place in the 200m final, he was involved in a dangerous crash that saw one athlete getting into a terrifying ordeal.

After a spectacular 100m win, Lyles is hoping to secure the 200m gold medal as well. Just before Lyles’ semi-final run, he was involved in a golf car accident. As Lyles and his fellow competitors were being transported to the racetrack in a golf buggy, they collided with another incoming golf cart. He explained that there was a miscommunication between the two golf carts as they approached a bridge about who would stop. This confusion led to both carts crashing into each other. Lyles was visibly shaken but was uninjured. However, his Jamaican counterpart, Andrew Hudson, was in need of immediate medical attention to remove glass fragments from his eye.

This incident resulted in a wave of delays and disruptions, which ultimately led to the reordering of the semi-finals. However, the delay did not change the outcome for Lyles, who set the fastest time of the semi-finals with 19.76 seconds. Lyles later took to his Instagram to share an update with his fans and captioned his post, “Survived a crash and still got the fastest time going into the final. Thank you God for watching over me.”

This semi-final win means that Noah Lyles is on track to win the double 100m and 200m event which will be underway in a couple of hours. However, he would not be alone and would have to face a host of talented runners in order to win gold.
