A junior at the Ventura (CA) High School continues thrilling the fans with her spectacular performance on the track. Recently, she left the crowd in awe at the 2024 New Balance Nationals Indoor track & field championships. She clocked in 4:36.36 seconds, winning the mile in Boston. Apart from that, she led the race gun to tape after starting at a speed of less than 4:30 through halfway in Boston.

High school track and field star Sadie Engelhardt has now become one of the most distinguished emerging athletes. She astonished the world by earning her back-to-back second national title. And now she is making headlines for kicking off her outdoor season in the women’s professional 1,500m.

Taking to its official Instagram handle, Flo Track cherished the victory of Sadie Engelhardt in the 1500m at The TEN. Along with posting a clip from the event held in San Juan Capistrano, California, Flo Track captioned the post as “THE HIGH SCHOOL SUPERSTAR DOES IT AGAIN! Sadie Engelhardt takes the Pro 1500m win in a blazing 4:09.70 against a stacked field here at The TEN.”

After winning the mile title at New Balance HS Nationals in Boston, Engelhardt, a native of Massachusetts, outperformed a professional field in the women’s 1500m, clocking in at 4:09.70. Despite being overtaken by Lauren Gregory, a Nike Athlete, on the final lap, Engelhardt maintained her strong pace and fought back to win the home straight with a final lap time of 63.03. Notably, Gregory finished 2nd at the 2023 NCAA indoor meet for Arkansas. With this win, Engelhardt has earned one more elite achievement.

Sadie becomes the 5th fastest on the all-time high school list

Sadie Engelhardt’s outstanding time places her fifth on the list of all-time high school graduates. In 2015, Alexa Efraimson clocked in 4:03.39 in 1500m, while in 2013, Mary Cain recorded the win in 4:04.62, Kate Murphy achieved the triumph, posting at  4:07.21 in 2016. Whereas, Christina Aragon ran in a 1500m sprint at 4:08.71 in 2016.

My goal going in was just to compete, and my coaches kind of said that this was in my range to win, so I kind of had to wrap my head around that first, and then once I did, I kind of just came out here with the mentality to win and to compete. Yeah, I think it went well,” Sadie remarked after the win. Besides that, she also shared her feelings about this event, “Honestly, I was more nervous for the New Balance Indoor Nationals than today, and I don’t know why that was. But I felt really calm today, before the race, and confident,” she stated further.
