Tara Davis-Woodhall entered 2024 as an Olympic hopeful, and now she’s the Olympic long jump champion. Winning gold inside the Stade de France in front of 80,000 people was an experience unlike any other. Similarly, a month after the 25-year-old won gold, her husband Hunter Woodhall did the same in the Paralympics. Yet, the pair are not done setting ‘couple goals’ for 2024.
The Woodhalls, who tied the knot on October 16, 2022, just celebrated their second anniversary. And while the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics have changed their lives forever, for Davis-Woodhall, nothing tops the day she married Hunter Woodhall. “2 years ago I married my best friend. The most special day of my entire life,” the Olympian wrote in a heartwarming tribute.
“Each day I’ve fallen more and more in love with you! In these last 2 years of marriage, we have created memories that could last us a lifetime,” added Tara Davis-Woodhall. However, the Olympian didn’t just share a special note for her husband but also shared some unseen gems from their wedding album. The photographs gave fans a closer look at the couple’s special day.

“I love doing life with you and every day God shows us how blessed our life is. 2 down and a lifetime to go. I love you with all my being—10/16/22,” the 25-year-old wrote, concluding her post. Hunter Woodhall shared his wife’s thoughts and her joy. “Best day of my life followed by the best 2 years of my life. Happy anniversary baby, I love you a little more every day,” he wrote. In fact, marriage didn’t just transform the Woodhalls on a personal level. Living together as husband and wife has made them better athletes.

While the Woodhalls may be head over heels for one another, they’re also competitive athletes. Although Hunter Woodhall had won his first Paralympic bronze and silver at Rio 2016, he hungered for gold. Meanwhile, Tara Davis-Woodhall shared that ambition alongside her husband, and it was that hunger and the competitive spirit that helped them improve.

The track and field power couple often trained together, but living under the same roof elevated every aspect. “It’s just constantly like competing with each other… We are checking our stats like seeing how many notes we missed and stuff. So, it’s just little things… even if like we are riding our bikes, playing with dogs, we’ll just like race each other randomly,” Hunter Woodhall said on the Rising Phoenix YouTube channel in August.
This unique dynamic of a loving couple and competitive athletes has served the Woohalls well. Another aspect of the husband-wife duo’s success has been the positive reinforcement. Just as Hunter Woodhall drew inspiration from his wife, Tara Davis-Woodhall did the same. “Been basking in all the glory recently. I’ve just been wanting to take all these moments in and LIVE,” the long-jump special wrote in a celebratory post after her husband also clinched gold in Paris. So it’s no wonder why the Woodhall consider 10/16/22 the best day of their lives.
