The world’s fourth-fastest man has some suggestions for Noah Lyles. Lyles, who is on a roll and has big dreams ahead of the Paris Olympics is currently carrying the hopes of the US on his shoulders. While he is all into creating history and shattering world records, Asafa Powell wanted to share a word of advice with the young man. Boasting an incredible feat of breaking the 10-second barrier for a record 97 times in his career, Powell surely knows a thing or two about breaking records.

During 2005 and 2008, Powell registered the 100m world record twice, clocking 9.77s and 9.74s, only to see it getting owned by Usain Bolt. Over the years, many have aspired to break the 9.58s barrier like Powell and failed. Now, when Lyles aspired to do the same, Powell opened up his mind about whether the record was actually breakable.

Citius Mag caught up with Asafa Powell and asked his opinions about everything Olympics. However, while exploring different topics, the sprinter was asked to give his views on Noah Lyles and whether he can break Bolt’s world record. However, he then shifted his attention to Noah Lyles and said that Lyles might have a chance of breaking the 19.19s 200m record. Powell pointed out that Lyles has a great mindset along with a perfect work ethic. He believes that if anybody could beat the world record it would be him. However, he suggests Lyles aim for the 200m world record as the 100m one is too much of an ask for an athlete according to Powell. On the contrary, king Usain Bolt himself has a different take when it comes to Noah Lyles.

Usain Bolt gives Lyles the edge

Usain Bolt recently opened up about the burning question of whether Lyles would be able to break his world records. Speaking to Citus Mag, the track and field king stated, “I think the possibility is there because he came close at the World Championships. I feel like if he corrects a few things- I won’t say – he could get better.” However, the 37-year-old also pointed out that competing at both 100 & 200m won’t be an easy job for Lyles.
