In a post-race interview published by Athletics Weekly on X, she shared the heartbreaking moment. She shut down critics, stating she was puzzled herself and shared, “I don’t think it was any of my fault.” However, what was the reason for this heartbreaking turn of events for the talented Irish runner?

What was the reason for her fall?
During the race, Sarah Healy was trying to keep up with Birke Haylom from Ethiopia. She made a mistake by attempting to pass Birke too many times near the end of the race. This made her extremely tired, and she didn’t have enough energy left for the final sprint. Sarah Healy attributed her downfall to impatience, admitting that her attempt to surge past the race favorite too soon may have cost her the race.

She shared, “I think it cost me. I just can’t believe that happened, to be honest. It certainly feels like a wasted opportunity, for sure.” Despite her disappointment and disbelief at the missed opportunity, Healy acknowledged her breakthrough season, marked by Irish indoor records in the 1500m and 3000m events, and expressed determination to bounce back stronger in future competitions.
