Sydney McLaughlin-Levron dominates the 400mH event despite last making a huge score in Eugene, Oregon in 2022 at the World Athletics Championships. Back then, she broke the record for the fourth time in a row with a time of 50.68 seconds. On May 31st in Atlanta, Georgia, the American Track League’s Edwin Moses Legends Meet hosted by PUMA ATL will present track and field history in the making, ending a long and daunting wait for Sydney McLaughlin-Levron’s 400mH appearance.

The first-ever fully pro track meet will take place on an HBCU campus at Morehouse College, featuring a total of 16 men’s and women’s track and field events combined. Watch the action live in person from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, or watch it online on Vimeo worldwide, ESPN 3 in the US.

The Mt. SAC Relays on April 13-20th served as the season debut of the track and field warm-up for two-time Olympic champion McLaughlin-Levrone. She later made her individual appearance at the Oxy Invitational in Los Angeles, putting up two strong performances in 100m and 200m. Next, the New Jersey-born athlete set a new personal record in the women’s 200 meters at the 2024 LA Grand Prix with a time of 22.07 seconds. Following her comeback from a potentially fatal injury and her blazing 200-meter win, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone said about the 400m showcasing her inclination, “I think 400 hurdles is my bread and butter.”

Sydney McLaughlin will be back in the 400m hurdles scene for the first time since August 8, when she competed in the Gyulai Istvan Memorial 2022. Before that, in the 2022 World Championships, Sydney McLaughlin won the world title. She had not lost in this event since placing second to fellow American Dalilah Muhammad in the 2019 World Championships. She also won the Olympic gold medal in Tokyo, where McLaughlin triumphed over Muhammad with 51.46. However, there will be more rivalries than ever to brew at the Edwin Moses Legends Meet.
