The sporting world recently woke up to devastating news as a 32-year-old sprinter, an Olympic gold medalist, passed away at the unripe age of 32. Tori Bowie, a multiple-Olympic medalist who was raised by her grandmother in Mississippi, died on 3rd May 2023 when at the peak of her health and fitness. Bowie’s stint at the Rio Olympics was especially special since she not only won the gold medal in the 4X100 meters event, she also won a silver and a bronze at 100m and 200m, respectively. Her silver medal aka 2nd place at the 100m event was a proud one since she beat the then-defending champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, putting her in the 3rd position. Fraser-Pryce had earlier said that she wanted to inspire women before ending her career at Tokyo Olympics 2020.
