After Noah Lyles’s recent statement over breaking Bolt’s records, 16-year-old American track star Quincy Wilson’s recent high school record has become a point of discussion. Quincy is making waves by breaking Bolt’s high school record at the age of 16.
Ahead of the Paris Olympics, the Bullis School sophomore, Wilson left the world in awe with his spectacular performance at the Florida Relays 2024. Wilson has achieved a new milestone with his recent victory in the 400-meter run, becoming the 9 fastest high schooler in 400m outdoor history. Quincy’s record time is being compared with the greatest sprinter of all time, Usain Bolt, as Wilson stunned the world by displacing Usain Bolt in the back.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, CitiusMag founder, Chris Chavez celebrated the victory of the 16-year-old phenom Quincy as he recently placed himself as the top American timer, clocking in 45.19 seconds in the 400-meter race at the Florida Relays on March 29. Along with resharing CitiusMag’s post about Quincy’s win, he shed light on Quincy’s achievement.
In lowering his PR from 45.87 to 45.19, Quincy Wilson moved ahead of the likes of Usain Bolt (45.35 at 16 years 7 months 15 days) and Kirani James (45.24 at 16 years 10 months 9 days) on the World U18 all-time list.

Apart from that, Chris, also mentioned his impressive rank, “Quincy is only 16 years, 2 months, and 21 days old. He is now No. 5 on the World U18 all-time list.” However, Wilson has not only improved his personal best outdoor time of 45.87, recorded at the U.S. U20 Championships in Eugene in July, by also reduced it by 0.68 seconds.

Quincy Wilson also beat Usain Bolt’s age during the recorded time of 45.35. In his final Jamaican High School Championships in 2003, Bolt set the record in 400m with 45.35s. Bolt made this record at 16 years 7 months 15 days, while Wilson set the new record at only 16 years, 2 months, and 21 days old.
Wilson is on a route to athletic stardom in track & field
The Bullis School sophomore is coming off an indoor season where he became the first prep athlete in 20 years to break 46 seconds in the 400m, clocking a time of 45.76 seconds at New Balance Nationals Indoor. Wilson was a part of three national records over the indoor season, including times in the open 400m, the sprint medley relay, and the 4×400.

After breaking the eight-time Olympic gold medalist Bolt’s record, Quincy raised the expectations of the fans for future track and field competitions. Wilson is now gearing up for the USA Track and Field Olympic Trials 2024 to secure a berth in the 4x400m relay team at the Paris Olympics 2024.
