Noah Lyles discusses his thoughts on the ‘USATF Journey to Gold Zone’ Podcast, where he talked about his strategy and dedication towards mental health. During the podcast, one question came up that asked him, “How does it feel coming from a track family?”. Noah Lyles answered the question without wasting a minute. “It’s fun. Because all we wanna do is to be around the track. I remember being kids, and we go on long trips with my dad, just because we go on the tracks.” The runner understood his sister and explained how he felt about her behavior. He shared, “And she doesn’t like track or sport. She doesn’t care for it. So I really felt bad for her in that time period.”

The next thing he added to his answer was quite funny and astonishing at the same time. “And my poor sister. Me and my brother and my dad just talked about track, numbers, people, records, all stuff like….. Eight hours of driving”, he said with a huge smile on his face. However, he continued his views upon belonging to a family with the same preferences, as he concluded his answer, “But it’s fun. Because one, you get to have a real enjoyment for it. You get to have somebody to always talk about it”. However, despite being a close-knit family, some members could not stay away from the glares of Noah’s fame.

From then on, there has been a paradigm shift in the mindset of Josephus Lyles. He aspires to make his spot on the team for this Olympics after failing to make it last time. In that way, he has finally managed to come out of his brother’s shadow to crave a niche for himself, as he points out, “I am not competing to prove myself, just focussing on running fast.” The coming days are going to test both Lyles brothers for their ability to rule the tracks.
