The track and field world has been buzzing since last month, and the world has witnessed some of the greatest performances in the last few days. Now that the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest is over, the focus has now shifted to the Diamond League. After a hiatus due to the world championships, the league resumed in Zurich, where athletes like Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson replicated their world championship performances.
Now, after Zurich, round 12 of the Diamond League is making waves in China, as many athletes have already made many heads turn by asserting their dominance on the tracks of Xiamen. On the same note, in the men’s 100 meters, American sprinter Christian Coleman stood victorious by clocking in this year’s fastest time. Nevertheless, there are speculations that this newly crowned champion is also dating current women’s 100-meter world champion Sha’Carri Richardson.

Christian Coleman made history on the tracks of Egret Stadium and took home the victory in no time. 27-year-old Coleman ran like thunder and finished the race in a remarkable 9.83 seconds, which is also the current world lead. Coleman’s 9.83-second timeframe is also the joint-fastest finish this year with the current 100-meter world champion, Noah Lyles. Lyles clocked the same time when he became the world champion on August 26 in Budapest.
Kishane Thompson of Jamaica ran a personal best of 9.85 seconds and was able to finish second, and Fred Kerley finished third with 9.96 seconds. Yohan Blake, who used to be one of Usain Bolt’s primal rivals, finished sixth.
The news of this win was reported by Travis Miller on his official X handle with the caption, “Coleman and Thompson impressive in the XiamenDL 100m!”
