Sha’Carri Richardson has been a dominant force in the track and field realm ever since she made her comeback after a two-year hiatus. Every time she steps foot on the track, she clinches victory and leaves her mark on the field. Only a few days have passed since she stood atop the podium at the World Athletics Championships and took home the 100-meter triumph. And, now, she has again made it to the headlines by winning the 100m heat at the Zurich Diamond League.

She was up against the likes of Natasha Morrison, Twanisha Terry and the world’s fastest woman alive, Elaine Thompson-Herah. But she left everyone in her wake and ran like a thunderbolt and won the race. Nonetheless, she couldn’t surpass Florence Griffith Joyner’s 35 year-old decades old record of 10.49-seconds, but she did outshine Thompson-Herah, who holds the world’s second-best time in the 100-meter sprint.

This world champion looked confident while she lined up against her nine counterparts on the Zurich track. It was a picture-perfect finish for Richardson, as she started off well and maintained an early lead.

While her Jamaican rival, Thompson-Herah, tried her absolute best to take over Richardson, she did not get the chance, as the American sprinter finished the race once again in under 11 seconds and crossed the finish line in 10.88 seconds.

Natasha Morrison finished second after clocking a time of 11 seconds, and Thompson-Herah finished third with the same time as Morrison.

Richardson was looking her best, and for once, it felt like she was going to overcome Thompson-Herah to become the fastest woman alive in the world. After finishing the race, Sha’Carri celebrated the historic feat in her signature style.

Ever since Richardson started her season at the Miramar Invitational and became the champion, she seems to have found her own zone. And, with her 100m win on the tracks of Zurich, she once again asserted her dominance on the track and field universe.

Her dreamy run and Flo-Jo’s record

This young American superstar has become the next big thing in track and field in no time. She has become one of those athletes who are bringing back the dominance of the United States in track and field. She ran her maiden World Championship sprint in Budapest and did not have the best start to the race, but she managed to cross the finish line first and bring back the dominance of the Americans in the 100-meter title after clocking 10.65 seconds. With the 2023 season almost reaching its end, she must be poised to replicate the same at the upcoming Paris Olympics. With that, she once again fell short of Flo-Jo’s record that this American legend had set during the US Olympic Trials in July 1988.
