Back in 2021, when Sha’Carri Richardson faced a suspension over doping allegations, she was under intense scrutiny. Amid all the rumors swirling around her ban, Cardi B stepped up to set the record straight. Cardi confidently predicted, “Three years from now, she’s going to be the No. 1 most-anticipated to go to the Olympics.” Further, when an Australian journalist, Claire Lehmann, made some wild claims suggesting Richardson might be using steroids—based on nothing more than her long hair and nails—Cardi B didn’t hold back.

She quickly defended Sha’Carri, calling out Lehmann’s accusations and pointing out that Richardson’s hair and nails were just a result of a vitamin supplement, not steroids. On Instagram, Cardi B went even further to back Sha’Carri Richardson and share her thoughts on the whole situation. She said, “This is how I feel about the Sha’Carri situation, right. I feel like we cannot turn time around. I feel like the Olympics are going to try and be so hard on her ’cause this has been a big situation. However, that doesn’t take away [from the fact] that she’s the most talked about athlete.”

On May 5, 2024, Cardi B hopped on her X handle to share her excitement about Sha’Carri Richardson competing in one of her favorite cities: Paris. Cardi posted the same NBC promo video featuring both women getting their nails done at a salon and captioned it, “Can’t wait to see my girl @itsshacarri in one of my favorite places in the world…PARIS!!” Seeing Cardi B’s prediction come true and reflecting on this uplifting sisterhood and friendship, it’s incredible to witness how supportive connections can truly make a difference.
