Home/Olympics

Sha’Carri Richardson just put out some explosive news about her presence in the Miramar Invitational. As the fans reel from the unprecedented news of Richardson stepping down from the Florida event, Sha’Carri has hinted at her possible appearance at the meet, albeit in a different manner.

The upcoming tournament is projected as the stepping stone for the 2024 Paris Olympics, which is only about four months away. As the world’s biggest track and field stars gear up to show their worth, Sha’Carri’s fans will have to wait a few more days before seeing her in action. But that doesn’t mean she will be staying behind closed doors all the time!

While the reigning 100m world champ will not be taking to the tracks to give her fans an insight into her form, it seems that Richardson might be there to cheer her national and international colleagues from the stands. In her recent Instagram story, Sha’Carri shared a brief snippet of the ocean with Miami, Florida being tagged as the location of the rather grey-ish video. Interestingly, the hotel which is visible in her story is a 30-minute drive from the venue of the Invitational.

In just the previous story, Richardson shared news directly from “…the horse’s mouth“, that she will not compete in the event on April 6, making her fans frown at the lost chance to witness her and Shericka Jackson lock horns yet again. However, it looks like Richardson isn’t too keen on leaving out the opportunity to take notes of her opponents’ strategies, especially with the Olympics not even five months away now. With her possible attendance, fans can rest that some learning process will be there for Richardson in terms of her biggest rivals.

A long rivalry’s verdict delayed, again

The biggest miss for the fans at the Miramar Invitational will definitely be the chance to witness Shericka Jackson and Sha’Carri Richardson go head-to-head. Both athletes were entered into the 100m and 200m events. Considering their long rivalry, both athletes would be determined to triumph over their opponents in style. At their last meeting in Budapest for the 2023 World Athletics Championships, Richardson recorded a close victory in the 100m event, while the Jamaican picked up a win in the 200m event. Richardson also led Team USA to a win over Jamaica in the 4x100m relay.

Understandably, Richardson will be looking to keep a close eye on the likes of Shericka Jackson as well as on Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in hopes of learning their moves and trump cards. While Sha’Carri steps down from the weekend event, she is expected to participate in the Diamond League later this month where Shericka is also set to take to the tracks in the 200m race.
