According to former Olympic champion Sebastian Coe, it is all about a journey of 10 seconds when it comes to proving the upper hand on others on the tracks. However, this Olympic season, Noah Lyles is looking forward to lowering it down, less than 9.58 seconds to grab a place in the record book. Well, Marcell Jacobs has yet to remark on that. But being the arch-rival, he must be looking for the same. But what is the background story to reach the ultimatum?

Netflix has come up with a solution, rather than a proposed docu-series, Sprint that will frame everything, including the lives of Noah Lyles and Marcell Jacobs. Interestingly, Sha’Carri Richardson, the American epitome of flamboyance, will also feature in Sprint. The excitement is no less and Marcell Jacobs has recently pointed out two or three factors to hype Sprint.

Marcell Jacobs is shedding the tag being out of the radar

Athletics Weekly recently caught Marcell Jacobs off guard and asked pertinent questions related to his post-Tokyo Olympics life. Meanwhile, the topic of getting featured in Sprint with Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson came up. The 100m Olympic champion couldn’t hide his emotion in the upcoming docu-series. Showering praises on Netflix for thinking about such an avant-garde creation, Marcell said, “It [the docu-series] focuses on the type of people we are, both on and off the track, and delves into the type of commitment it takes to be a sprinter. Plus, what happens in our day-to-day lives.”

Surprisingly, Marcell Jacobs had to hear complaints regarding his knack of being out of the radar in the past. Therefore, the Sprint docu-series could be a perfect medium to know the sprinter in a better way. At the same time, Marcell Jacobs is trying to keep himself away from injuries that kept him wingless in the last two seasons. He missed countering Noah Lyles last year in Budapest World Athletics championships where the American sprinter belted his opponents to win the 100m gold.

Moreover, in the 2022 Worlds as well, he had to pull out at the last moment because of his physical constraints. Coming to this season, Jakob has received a mixed result- still running in the sub-10 category while missing to convert it into the best outcomes. So, is he losing hope of defending his Olympic gold?

The answer would be no. And the reason is his recent moves. Marcell Jacobs has moved to the same region where fellow American sprinters Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson practice, the heaven of track and field in Florida.

Under the guidance of the new yet experienced mentor, Rana Reider, the 29-year-old is looking to turn the table. He knows about his legacy of being the successor of Usain Bolt in 100m and will try to unearth the defiant performance. Hopefully, the Sprint docu-series will frame his story accordingly. And what about Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson?

Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson’s efforts will show up again

When the Paris Olympiad is waiting at the corner, the July month will add to the mood with the Sprint docu-series. Netflix has already scheduled July 2 being the penultimate day of the second season of Sprint. The docu-series will display the summer of 2023 track and field season and continue to the Diamond League and the continental championships. But among those highly competitive outings, the rejoicing might come through the 2023 Budapest Worlds that saw Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson cementing themselves among the legends.

As per the production team of Box To Box Films, Sprint will churn out every emotion where the athletes didn’t veil themselves. Interestingly, the raging session that has been shot through lenses in the series, has seen Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson giving a fitting reply to the world.

In Budapest, Noah set himself alongside Usain Bolt touching his 2015 record of bagging two gold medals in 100m and 200m in the world championships. On the other hand, SCR fulfilled her promise made in the 2021 Prefontaine Classic to be the world champion defeating the Jamaican monuments. The track and field world will have to wait for a few more weeks to experience the roller coaster ride.
