During an interview with TODAY, Noah Lyles was asked by the interviewer, referencing a still image from his documentary series . The still showed his mother, Keisha Caine, as a nervous wreck in the stands. She asked, “What kind of inspiration has she been like to you?” With a heartfelt response, Lyles spoke of the profound impact his mother has had on his journey, saying, “She’s truly been the sacrifice to my career. Me and my brother we told her that we wanted to make it to the 2016 Olympics”.
He continued, “I was one place off of that as a senior in high school. You know, I broke the high school record at the time, I think it’s been broken now, but it was where she decided that she was going to give up going after those promotions and those jobs because she knew she wasn’t going to have time to give to us to be able to go out and make Olympics teams, or World Championships teams, or World Juniors and World Youth. And she wanted to be there to make sure we had all the resources we could.” Released on August 18, 2023, just ahead of the 2023 World Athletics Championships, the series delves deep into both Lyles’ personal and athletic journey.
