Tori Bowie’s death on 2nd May saddened thousands of fans. The track and field athlete passed away at her home in Orlando. Grieved at her death, condolences poured in from fans on social media. American sprinting athlete Justin Gatlin also shared a heartfelt message on Bowie’s tragic demise on his Instagram handle.

Gatlin’s message reflects the strong bond they had developed while contesting in track events. Participating in competitions like the Diamond League and USATF Outdoor Championships, both players were inspired and motivated by each other. Gatlin’s message also commemorated Bowie’s phenomenal prowess. The athletics champion, Tori Bowie, had won 3 medals in the Olympics in the 100m, 200m and 4×100 m relay categories. In his recent Instagram post, Gatlin expressed, “Tori was a beautiful human being and had a smile that made you want to smile too. A country girl who loved her roots.”

Fondly recalling how he and Torie would spend time together, Gaitlin narrated how Bowie would race with horses on foot. “She was a fierce competitor and great teammate” he added. Describing how Bowie had forever engraved her legacy in athletics and in fans’ hearts, Gaitlin gave her a memorable tribute. He ended the post by saying, “REST IN PEACE QUEEN.”

Track athletes united in grief after Tori Bowie’s demise

Famous athlete Sha’Carri Richardson posted a picture of Bowie and captioned the post, “1990-2023.” Through this post, Richardson hinted at how Bowie had made a mark on the world in the 32 years she lived. She also shared another post of Bowie’s candid mirror selfie and wrote, “People never know what you’re going through, Rise up Queen, you deserve peace.”

Earlier, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce also shared her heartfelt eulogies on Bowie’s death on her Twitter handle. She penned, “My heart breaks for the family of Torie Bowie. A great competitor and source of life. Your energy and smile will always be with me. Rest in peace.”

The world has lost one of its best athletes and Bowie’s void can never be filled. Nonetheless, Bowie’s legacy in track and field sports will always be remembered and forever inspire future generations of track athletes.
