Is there anything Noah Lyles cannot do? Looking in fine fettle after his 200m victory at the NYC Grand Prix, the athlete’s recent confessions about his relationship with partner Junelle Bromfield seems to be a match made in heaven. Lyles and his Jamaican girlfriend appeared at the Fast Lane Lifestyle show hosted by Asafa and Alyshia Powell. There they were questioned on how their work-life dynamic fits together. To this, Junelle cited an anecdote from their training together, when Lyles’ “Go baby!” cheer for her during practice had Junelle cautioning him to not do that again. She further reiterated that on the track, they follow a “different approach.”
Chipping in his response, Lyles remarked “I mean I got to respect the boundary.” This sincere assertion hinted at him being a considerate partner, mindful of his beloved’s priorities on track. Besides, he suggests that their understanding is relatively natural, as “Even before we started dating, we had a very good balance.” He even reminisced how the two would show up at common track meets, and nobody had the slightest idea that they knew each other. The secret to it was that each had their “own mindset” and “own headspace.”
Yet, by maintaining a boundary, Lyles doesn’t imply that the two do not relish their shared love for athletics. He confesses, “Yes, we talk about track a lot. But it’s more about coaching, dynamics, theories, and concepts. Basically, subjects that pertain to “the track world.” Nonetheless, athletic diehards, the two also confess to being glued to the couch together, watching track contests.

However, when it comes to their respective routines, specifically in things like “how was practice today?” The ambit of their conversation remains limited to “Oh, practice went great. You know we did this and we did this” and they leave it there. On some days, they discuss topics like “How are you feeling or how do you feel the program’s working…” Therefore, no intricate formula, but it is this simple practice the two follow to sail through seamlessly in their relationship. And it looks like things are going great for them.
