As athletic events begin at the Stade de France in Paris, the American-Jamaican is set to pick up fresh fire. Indeed, both countries would continue to vie for ultimate dominance in athletic events. However, the sprinting power couple, Noah Lyles and his Jamaican girlfriend, Junelle Bromfield, have often been caught in the crossfire. On the very first day of the sprinting events, Junelle being part of the 4th Jamaican side in the 4x400m mixed relays opened up a chance for the internet to lash out at her skills.

Unfortunately, clocking 3:11.06 could not land the Jamaicans, Reheem Hayles, Junelle Bromfield, Zandrion Barnes, and Stephanie-Ann McPherson, in the top 3. On the other hand, the American side bested the existing time for a new world record. The quartet of Vernon Norwood, Shamier Little, Bryce Deadmon, and Kaylyn Brown came out with flying colors. And this opened the ground for many to shade Junelle’s contribution to the race.

Taking to X, one of the users opined, “they need to replace junelle.” The fan seemed to be confident that it was perhaps her performance that was off the mark. Similarly, another one chimed in with a more tactical lookout. They wrote, “dont want to be too critical but Junelle last 100m wasn’t ideal at all, need better distribution if she’s gonna come back for the finals tomorrow.” Well, for this fan, who seems to have witnessed Junelle’s sprint, it seemed something was off.

But on the contrary, the clocks say otherwise. Although the Jamaicans came in fourth in their heat, they did so in national record time. The Olympics that were held in the Japanese capital in 2021 had three changes in this quartet. The male pair opposite Bromfield featured Sean Bailey and Karayme Bartley, while the fourth sprinter was Stacey-Ann Williams. However, they ran to a blazing 3.11.76, a mark that was brought further down by a few milliseconds today. Regardless, there have been a few fans who seem unsatisfied by Junelle’s sprint.

Given how her off-track controversies have been on the rise, another chimed in with, “If it is to gossip about her teammates that is where they will see Junelle. Run strong leg…” Well, recently, Lyles and Bromfield’s relationship garnered the spotlight, but for the wrong reasons. Appearing in a Track World News podcast, Lyles mentioned, “I have been getting the drama from the Jamaican camps for at least five years now.” This led to some fans calling her names, and now another one has labeled her for ‘gossiping.’ However, when it comes to sprinting, this fan seems to hold the opinion that she fell short.

No second thoughts. No possibilities. There is no margin for error. Another one of the fans simply directed the brunt at Bromfield, stating,I blame Junelle for this! Chat too much man.” On the other hand, one of them noted that she did not appear in the correct zone right from the start. The fan wrote, “Lawdddd did sumn happen to Junelle? She looked off 😭” Slated to appear in the 400m and 4x400m relay events, Bromfield is a strong contender from the Jamaican camp. But has all the off-track drama taken away the work she put into her sprint today? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
