After all, she is the fastest woman in the world. Richardson is aware that kids all over the country look up to her. So, in an attempt to fulfill her duties to the community, she visited a high school in her hometown.
Sharing Her Grandmother’s Teachings to Motivate Emerging Athletes

As the official Olympics website notes, Sha’Carri visited Desoto High School in Dallas. She had some words of wisdom to share with the youthful crowd. Interestingly, the advice Sha’Carri shared was one she inherited from her grandmother. “My grandmother told me, whatever you are going to do, put your best foot into, the best self into it…” said the 23-year-old.
“Always take a risk, when you take a risk, you don’t know what you can get. But if you don’t take risks, you are going to have regrets.” Sha’Carri added. She began her sprinting career in Dallas, where she attended Carter High School.
Sha’Carri Richardson was raised by her grandmother and her aunt Betty Harp. Growing up, she would go on to win several state medals at Track and Field events in Texas. Richardson cherishes her high school track days, and her bond with her high school coach, Lauren Cross, remains strong to this day.

Fellow world champion Noah Lyles also accompanied Sha’Carri Richardson. Three-time world champion gold medalist Lyles also had some uplifting messages for the students. “No matter what they are able to grab, I want them to know that everybody is gifted with something,” Lyles said. “It’s just learning how to use it, it doesn’t have to be the same way as the person next to you” he added.
The duo visited the High School on Wednesday, 27 September. The visit was part of an event held to mark the launch of a health and wellness program called “Dream Big.” Recently, in a dazzling display of her speed and prowess, Sha’Carri Richardson clinched the gold medal in the 100 meters at the 2023 World Championships held in Budapest. In an awe-inspiring performance, she left Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in her wake, setting a new championship record with a lightning-fast time of 10.65 seconds.

In the same season, Noah Lyles managed to secure three gold medals on the tracks of Budapest. He also broke Usain Bolt’s most 200-meter wins under 20-second record, with 38 sprints under his belt. The next stop for both athletes is the 2024 Paris Olympics, where they plan to clinch gold again.
