From competing in the 2008 Summer Olympics, to London Olympics in 2012, to 2016 in Rio De Janeiro, and to Tokyo Olympics in 2020; Galen Rupp has always had a name in the Olympic history. A 37-year-old marathon runner, Galen seemed unstoppable even at this age. He has had multiple injuries before and his endurance has been put to test quite often.

Despite the continuous fame he has been getting with his hard work and dedication, Galen Rupp seems uncertain about his performance and participation in the upcoming games. What might be the barrier to this thought of his is the question here – his age, injury, or anything else? Let’s find out!

Galen Rupp and the contingency of his future

In his recent marathon trial for the 2024 Olympics, Galen seemed toned down his performance. He declared that not finishing had not been an option ever for the longest Olympic race. But, seemed dejected because he stood 16th in the race. Probably it was not his day to be victorious enough. His disappointment towards the same issue was very evident, just by his face. Being encouraged by this unfortunate finish, he claimed that sports do provide a diverse perspective of things in life. And, he is ready to rethink it, to settle his disconcert.

 

He recalls his past victories and admits that sometimes sportspersons are actually off their rhythms, so this time, it might be his turn. He added that by his injuries, or the weather conditions during the marathons, nothing should have been coming between winning the race. Though it did happen. He assures the audience that taking some time off and rekindling his next steps of planning, could be the to-do thing right now.

The positivity of Galen Rupp, despite the injuries he has had, allures the audience for sure. Though he trained pretty well, after his years of rough injuries, maybe something was lacking, due to which this adverse outcome induced. 2024 US Olympic Marathon Trials Results

The 2024 US Olympic Marathon Trials took place in Orlando, Florida on February 3rd, 2024. This event served as the qualifying race to select the first members of the American track and field team for the upcoming Paris Olympics. In the men’s race, Conner Mantz finished first with a time of 2:09:05 and Clayton Young finished second with a time of 2:09:06. They both qualified for the Olympic team. Leonard Korir finished third with a time of 2:09:57 and may still make the Olympic team.

In the women’s race, Fiona O’Keeffe finished first with a time of 2:22:10, Emily Sisson finished second with a time of 2:22:42, and Dakotah Lindwurm finished third with a time of 2:25:31. All three women qualified for the Olympic team with their podium finishes. The Trials produced both expected and surprising results, with veteran marathoners and up-and-coming talent alike earning trips to the Paris Games.
