Christian Coleman has finally encountered his nemesis. He who has been his training buddy for years, could outclass the World champ in two events within a brief span. 2023 has been one of the highlight years of Noah Lyles‘ life, which bestowed three golds upon the iconic ‘threepeater’ at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. The 26-year-old not only bagged victories for himself but also gave the world a new champion to root for.

But Coleman is also unwilling to step down his hard-earned throne. Being the 60m Indoor World record holder has earned him a place in the history book and people’s hearts alike. After having accepted defeat by his younger counterpart at the USATF Indoor Championships, his comeback performance caught the attention of a Bahamanian sprinter.

In a YouTube podcast named ‘Tidal League’, Justin Gatlin caught the iconic track star talking about some highlight World Indoor Championship moments. But the most-talked-about rivalry didn’t go unnoticed, and it was one of the first topics he picked. Slightly taking Coleman’s side, Green said, “I did tell you off-camera. Coleman wasn’t going to let that happen twice. I think this is the first time they did three rounds in one day, but I knew Coleman would have been prepared like he would have been more prepared”.

He further continued, “You’re gonna have to punch him (Noah) in the mouth and you watched Coleman progress and get faster each round”. His statement asserted that to thwart Lyles’ attempts is hard, but Coleman achieved it. However, the back-to-back 60m podiums were proof that Noah Lyles isn’t an amateur in Christian Coleman’s forte. But before the race, the two legends shared a frame with some predictions.

Track legends prophesied the 60m dash

Lyles, standing with 6.44s in the New Balance Grand Prix, brought the two legends to the edge of their seats. The only question was whether Coleman could avenge his past USATF loss or not. “I’m going to say 42. 42 is going to get the job done. 42 is gonna win. 6.42″, said the speedster, prophesying the winning time. Moreover, he also stated that Lyles has to execute a PR performance to outdo Coleman. “I mean, that’s nothing; he’s been PRing almost every time he’s run a 60-meter, especially this season. It’s a special moment because these are two athletes who live for the moment, “ they conceded.

Eyeing the Paris Olympics 2024, the archenemies will look to vie for the 60m title in the most-demanded ‘rematch’. Moreover, he’ll also look to break his PB in both the 100m and 200m and 4x100m relay events. But will Coleman be able to make the Outdoor 60m World record as well?
