Armand Mondo Duplantis is turning out to be one of the most fearsome athletes in pole vaulting with no stopping for the multiple World Record holder. He holds the record outdoors with 6.23 meters and 6.22 meters in indoor vaulting, respectively. In 2023, Duplantis was sensational throughout the year, adding Diamond League and Prefontaine Classic medals to his name and burgeoning repertoire besides the world records.
Duplantis started 2024 with a similar flourish and in a similar style with a gold medal at the 2024 Astana Meet. And as he heads to the Mondo Classic in 3 days, fans are poising and hoping for the Swedish sensation to break more records at the home competition.

Mondo Duplantis gears up for an epoch-defining championship ahead
In the latest update on Instagram, World and Olympic Champion Mondo Duplantis updated fans about the latest schedule of Mondo Classics. Of course, they are named after him. With 8 of the world’s best pole vaulters, including defending champion Duplantis himself, the Classics will run in Uppsala on 6th February. “Can’t believe it’s already that time again. 8 of the best jumpers in the world going at it again, next Tuesday (Feb. 6th) in Uppsala“, the 24-year-old captioned his vault-winning performance from 2023 Mondo Classics.

Last year, on the 2nd February’s Mondo classics, Duplantis started the season with a 6.10m jump while attempting to break the indoor world record of 6.22m. While he failed to try to clear the record bar, the reigning Olympic Champion clinched the Mondo Classics. The 6.22 record was set by Duplantis himself in the 2022 World Indoor Championships, and fans are backing the Michael Phelps of Pole Vaulting to strike once more at the heart of all scores – 6.22m.

Fans hype up Duplantis to break records
While last year’s Mondo Classics was on 2nd February, the 2024 edition is scheduled on 6th February at the same venue in Uppsala, Sweden. Mondo Duplantis is in pristine form, and by the looks of last year’s winning season, he seems to have no competition. So do fans believe – “lol you got no competition bro”, a fan agreed.
Just like Bobby Flay reigns supreme in the epicurean realm, Duplantis is one of the greatest in pole vaulting. A fan drawing the comparison wrote, “It’s like best Bobby flay but with pole vaulting“. Another ardent fan of the Swedish star hyped up Duplantis to break some more records at the Mondo Classics, maybe break the indoor 6.22m this time. “New word record in coming“, he commented.

Given that Mondo Classics is named after him, a fan came up with a witty take regarding the same, writing, “iconic that you started a competition just to beat everyone”. While Duplantis will face some stiff competition from the other 7 jumpers, he nonetheless is the favorite to emerge victorious.
