The younger sister of the renowned pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis, is carving her path to brilliance in this high-flying sport. With a mix of talent and familial support, Johanna Duplantis’ journey mirrors her brother’s ascent to the summit of world-leading performances.

As the sporting world watches, the Duplantis genes are running deep in LSU to leave their indelible mark on the pole vaulting field. However, this time, Mondo’s sister was seen headlining the day, as she showcased her pole-vaulting prowess through a dominant performance. Johanna Duplantis seems to have taken after her brother and a recent post exemplified their burgeoning talent in pole vaulting.

Family legacy: The Duplantis pole vaulting dynasty

Johanna Duplantis performed at the Red Raider Open, where she dominated the event. The LSU Track & Field shared this achievement on their X account captioning, “the duplantis genes run deep at LSU  📐 4.00m (13’ 1.50”) [No. 4 in LSU history]”. By the inevitable display of the pole-vaulting skills running in her blood, the youngest track-athlete in the family is now the 4th best in LSU history finishing in 4.00m. With this execution, she went on to grab the bronze in the event.

The whole Duplantis family is full of champions in the sports world. Father Greg Duplantis went on to 19-foot heights at LSU, the same institution every member has been in. Helena, the mother, has been an All-American in volleyball and track. Oldest brother Andreas was a state meet champion, and Antoine, is a baseball All-time leader. The Olympian Mondo Duplantis has been a standout, breaking a world-record for six times. Johanna Duplantis is another winner in the making, and is looking forward to just creating history with every performance. 

Dazzling future awaits as Johanna Duplantis forges her own path

Johanna Duplantis has been carrying the legacy with her pole-vaulting performances. The 22-year-old is a three time LHSAA state champion, and has won titles at 16 events in her high school. Also, aside from being 4th in the Top Performance list, she grabbed the 9th best with a 3.70m, which she did at the 2023 Hurricane invitational. She also bagged the silver at the LSU Twilight.

Looking at her brother Mondo Duplantis, he owns two of the top three jumps in the outdoor collegiate history. He was also an NCAA pole vault indoor champion with 5.83m. While she is walking in her brother’s footsteps, Johanna Duplanti’s remarkable journey in pole vaulting not only reflects her brother Mondo’s legacy, but also highlights her own determination and talent.
