Gabby Thomas kicked off her outdoor season in the Olympic year in style. In the Texas Relays, she topped the 200m race with a meet record of 22.08s. It came minutes after she clocked 10.88s in the 100m race. Her staunch performance on the field recently went beyond the tracks as well. A Team Toyota Athlete for the upcoming Olympics, Thomas was recently featured in an interesting promotional video by the car giant. But she is not alone there.
Last year in March, Toyota welcomed Gabby Thomas and Paralympian Ezra Frech to its Paris lineup. They joined an already revered group of athletes that includes names like saber fencing silver medalist Daryl Homer and swimming sensation Caeleb Dressel. The latest advertisement from Toyota involving some of those stars hyped up the spirit for the upcoming big battle.
Captioned “Get ready to follow our Team Toyota athletes on the road to Paris 2024″, Toyota USA illustrated how its athletes are prepared for the Olympics and Paralympics. The accompanying clip prominently featured Gabby sprinting while also showing glimpses of other Olympians and Paralympians showing their mastery in sports like cycling and skateboarding. The Toyota newsroom last year had Gabby Thomas talking about her alliance with the automotive manufacturers.

The 200m Olympic bronze medalist stated, “Toyota has continued to invest in the Olympic and Paralympic movements, and I’m so honored to be able to join Team Toyota as I prepare for the Paris Games. Team Toyota is filled with many talented athletes and I’m excited to have their support off the track.” All this surely leads Gabby Thomas to the big games where she has big dreams harbored for her.
Sighting her only goal this year
Scheduled to start in July this year, the New Balance athlete recently revealed her current mindset. She said, “By the time you get to the Olympics, you want to be at your top peak performance, physically, mentally, emotionally.” And she seems to be on top of it right from last year.
In World Athletics Championships 2023, she battled out the likes of Shericka Jackson and Sha’Carri Richardson in the 200m race. While she sat behind Jackson for silver, she made her tough rival Richardson settle for bronze. Therefore, she knows the challenge she is going to face.

“The world records are being eyed in a lot of the women’s events right now, especially the sprints…That’s definitely on my mind and I’m aware of it. But right now, I’m thinking about what I can be doing to just better myself and keep medals in the U.S,” Thomas said. It remains to be seen if she succeeds on both fronts in the coming days.
