The US team jersey for the Olympics has been launched by Nike and Tara Davis-Woodhall is not happy about it. As the countdown to the Paris Olympics picks up pace, the last-minute preparations are in full swing. However, while most of the fans praised the new look of the US team jersey, Tara Davis-Woodhall did not share the same sentiment. Soon after the launch, Woodhall took to her social media to criticize the design. And with her comment, she made it evident that she was not pleased.
Such a reaction from Tara Davis-Woodhall comes days after Nike encountered yet another controversy. The sports apparel company released a number of sculptures of their athletes. However, fans got back at them for not including Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce and just venerating Sha’Carri Richardson. Well, going by Woodhall’s reaction, Nike might be staring down at yet another controversy.

US track and field sensation Tara Davis-Woodhall does not seem to align with Nike’s sartorial ideas. Moments after the new Olympic kit came to light, she got back at Nike with a subtle dig. Sharing the images of both the men’s and women’s jerseys, Woodhall captioned her Instagram story saying, “Can we do a second look?” Although she did not directly express her discontent, it was clear that the caption was a sarcastic call out.
However, Nike had an entirely different take on their designs at the launch event. Speaking about the latest gears, representatives stated that Nike adhered to advanced body scanning and motion-capturing technologies. These helped them to attain a perfect fit, that would feel comfortable even for the Paralympic athletes. The color combination chosen for Team USA was red and blue.

Reflecting on the same, vice president Janet Nichol said, “On the apparel side, why it’s a game-changer for us, is because we’ve now been able to take athlete insights, along with data, and use that algorithm to create something that allows us to get to a level of specificity, fidelity, and accuracy that we’ve never been able to do before.” Well, the takes of Nike and Woodhall might be poles apart. The US athlete also seems to have other headaches than the jerseys to cater to.
Woodhall feels stupid about her suspension in 2023
Tara Davis-Woodhall had one of the memorable track and field indoor championships outings last year. But soon after, she was in for a shock. Winning the title with an incredible jump of 6.99m in Albuquerque, Woodhall was shocked to see it being stripped off. After undergoing doping allegations, Woodhall was found guilty of taking THC, a substance found commonly in marijuana.

Although the substance itself is not performance-enhancing, the USADA does not permit athletes to intake the same. Looking back at her month-long suspension, Woodhall termed the incident as “stupid” and vowed to bounce back ever so stronger in the future. How will her Paris outing look like? Time will tell.
