“I will do everything it takes to become faster and faster,” Alica Schmidt vowed once. Eventually, such an attitude helped the German runner punch her Paris Olympics team in the World Athletics Relays last week. Participating in the 4x400m German national team, Alica Schmidt has a certain degree of success in the European track and field circuit. But according to her, all this while she has been focused on being the “world’s sexiest athlete.” Her track and field achievements have remained under that shadow.

So, the 25-year-old has a lot to say to remove such shade and highlight her persona. Well, in the past, Alica Schmidt talked about it at a length.

For the last 7 years, Alica Schmidt has been remaining under the scanner, tagged ‘World’s sexiest athlete’. However, such a tag does not seem valuable to her. In a conversation with The Sun in 2022, the sprinter added, “This title doesn’t mean anything to me.” Rather, Alica believed beauty to be an inherent part,” coming from the inside.” Eventually, the tag given by the Australian magazine Busted Coverage did a certain help to her.

It is about interacting with the individuals found in unlikely places. According to the former European U20 championship medalist, such interactions inspired her. However, her appearance at Milan Fashion Week wasn’t overlooked by critics and fans. Her stunning avatar on the red carpets paved the way for her to be regarded as a fashionista instead of a track and field athlete. However, Alica Schmidt had a response to such a categorization.

“I’ve never really allowed anyone to tell me what I was capable of accomplishing,” the track and field athlete added. Simultaneously, she flouted the cliche of being measured in one particular scale. “It’s based on a subjective opinion of someone else judging the appearance of a person,” she sealed the discussion. Along with having more than 5 million followers on Instagram, Alica Schmidt nurtures a dream of stepping into the Olympics. Yet, she has her rules and regulations driving her to that ultimatum.

With a larger stature comes bigger responsibilities

Alica Schmidt’s fight against the German Sporting Federation regarding the pay dispute turned eyes to her a few years ago. The situation has not improved much as she is still receiving £611 per month from her sponsor, Sportlife. However, the stimulation comes from her social media engagements that earn her a truckload of money. But such an enormous sum couldn’t turn her head.

Recently, in one such occurrence, Alica Schmidt turned down a multi-million deal as she “didn’t feel comfortable with that.” Meanwhile, she was in no mood to compromise with her practice schedule as well.

“Being on the track, trying to push my myself to the absolute limit, that’s the feeling I live for. It means that I have to sacrifice a lot of things yes, but to me it’s absolutely worth it, as I need athletics to live and breathe,” she brought forward, depicting her unbowed mindset for her Olympic endeavor. Incidentally, Alica Schmidt missed her Tokyo Olympic chance. But her iron-cast attitude is showing no sign of missing the Parisian occasion.
