Pole vaulting has reached new heights since Mondo Duplantis made his debut. The Swedish pole vaulter has broken the world record ten times in just four years. Many fans might argue that he’s currently the most dominant track and field athlete. He showcased his exceptional skills on the world stage during the Paris Olympics.
During the competition, he set his ninth world record with a height of 6.25 meters. However, Mondo went viral on the internet for a different reason: immediately after breaking the record, he ran to the stands to hug and kiss his girlfriend. The heartwarming moment was widely shared, with many praising the sweet interaction. Now, the couple—who have since gotten engaged—have shared photos of themselves in their Halloween costumes.
The theme for their Halloween costumes appeared to be the Paris Olympics. Mondo seemed to be dressed as Yusuf Dikec, the Olympic silver medalist shooter known for his nonchalance while competing. The pole vaulter has previously paid tribute to Yusuf by performing the shooting celebration during his Olympic gold celebrations, so it was fitting that he chose to dress as the shooter for Halloween. However, what really caught fans’ attention was the costume worn by his fiancée.

Desire Inglander, a fashion model, also embraced the theme of Olympic athletes for her Halloween costume. While Mondo chose someone he admired, Desire opted for an athlete who faced significant trolling for her performance during the campaign: Australian break dancer Rachel Gunn, also known as Raygun. In her Instagram post, the model posed as if she were executing Raygun’s infamous ‘Kangaroo’ moves, leaving fans in stitches as they appreciated the playful jab at the Australian.

The dancer’s moves drew widespread ridicule during the Paris Olympics, with people mocking her everywhere, including on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. It seemed no one could contain their laughter at her peculiar performance. Some Australian fans even called for an apology from her, claiming she had turned the competition into a mockery.
It was quite a heavy storm, which the dancer had to deal with. Now with Mondo Duplantis and his girlfriend taking a jibe once again at Raygun, fans don’t seem to have forgiven her yet, as they reacted very positively to the picture. Some even claimed that they found it funny even though they were Australian.

Obviously, the breakdancer is not fond of all of this. In fact, she admitted in an interview with The Project that she couldn’t bring herself to watch the Jimmy Fallon parody. But you can’t argue with the internet. However, Rachel Gunn hasn’t found respite from her own countrymen either.
One user said, “As an Aussie, I approve of this!! 🔥😂😂😂” Raygun’s performance hasn’t exactly gone down well with the Australian public. One individual even started a petition accusing the country’s committee of corruption, alleging foul play in her selection. However, the petition was later dismissed due to a lack of evidence. They demanded apologies from both the committee and the dancer, but neither has been issued. As a result, the mockery continues.
Fans also noticed another detail in Mondo’s post: the high quality of the costumes. Desire’s outfit as Raygun closely resembled the one worn by the dancer, while Mondo’s Yusuf Dikec costume was equally impressive. Yusuf gained popularity for keeping his hands in his pockets and for not wearing shooting glasses during competitions, opting instead for his regular spectacles. Thus, one user said, “THE QUALITY IS SO HIGH.”

In the end, it was safe to say that fans loved Mondo Duplantis and his fiancee’s getup. The Raygun jibe made it even funnier for them. “This is so fire,” said a user. But it seems that the dancer isn’t very fond of Halloween costumes mocking her. In fact, she uploaded an Instagram video on October 30th, challenging fans who mock her to dance better than she can. She even offered a reward of up to $10,000 for anyone who succeeds. While the outcome of this challenge remains to be seen, one thing is certain: Raygun doesn’t appreciate the jokes made at her expense, but they show no signs of stopping.
