Is Noah Lyles' outspoken nature a double-edged sword for his relationship with Junelle Bromfield?

oIt’s just 10 days (9, in some parts of the world) to the Paris Olympics, and Noah Lyles has just stirred up the pot once again. While the reigning world champ is expected to give the USA’s Jamaican rivals a run for their money at the big event, Lyles might have just given out some info that was better left in the dark.

Lyles’ relationship with Jamaican sprinter Junelle Bromfield is one of the most talked about things in the track and field community. While their duties to their respective countries mostly keep them from spending a lot of time together, Lyles made it apparent recently that Bromfield still manages to help him out in different ways other than cheering for him from afar.

In a Track World News podcast episode Noah made some startling revelations that sent shockwaves across the world. “I’ve been getting the drama from Jamaican camps for at least five years now,” said the 26-year-old sprinter, eliciting a subtle reaction from one of the hosts. It seems the 6x World Champion  is privy to all the insider drama and gossip that prevails within the Jamaica camp!

For Lyles, though, this comes at a bad time. The 27-year-old recently featured in a docuseries SPRINT, released on July 2, as part of the buildup to the Olympic Games. However, he found himself against intense criticism owing to his alleged ‘unlikeable’ attitude in front of the camera. Comments ranging from “Noah Lyles gets on my nerves”, to “Why US Olympics trying to make him a thing?” struck the Paris-bound athlete.

During that same conversation, he said, “I was more shocked of, I don’t know…the toxicity from the U.S. on their own people!” On the contrary, he commented on the Jamaican people’s behavior and pointed how how supportive they are, saying, Jamaican Twitter, yeah, they are ride or die people. But I love it because that’s what you want to see you want to have that nation behind you.”

As for the drama surrounding Junelle and Lyles, the track and field athlete didn’t just stop there and went on to make bolder claims about the amount of insights he has from many of his Jamaican rivals. “…there’s a lot of times where I make references to Jamaicans. I’m not saying it because I’m like trying to go back and forth, but because I know information that other people don’t,” stated the American sprinter.

Is Noah Lyles' outspoken nature a double-edged sword for his relationship with Junelle Bromfield?

Have an interesting take?

While this information was given out in a light-hearted way, a lot of fans were torn between blaming Lyles or his girlfriend, who seemed to be the root cause of it all. What stoked the ire of the track world was that Lyles claimed to be rather well versed with a major chunk of information, something that might be an oversight to the public and boy, did it receive backlash!

Fans jump in on the opportunity to call out Noah Lyles’ girlfriend

Naturally, fans from all corners of the world have started showing up, slamming Bromfield for the tea she has allegedly spilled to her boyfriend. With the Olympic Games just around the corner, the bashing was only likely to be more severe, and so it has been. Noting how the fans have been harsh to Junelle, one fan still believes this was bound to happen, considering the implications of Noah’s words, writing, “Can’t feel sorry for junelle….. lol and she’s gonna have to deal with the repercussions.”

Some fans opined that Bromfield might have picked the habit of talking too much from her boyfriend, with a statement that read, “both Junelle and Noah chat too much! i hope she run a Paris like how she run her mouth to her man,” read the fan’s comment.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Lyles has received backlash for his comments. Earlier this year, he had compared himself to eight-time Olympic gold medalist and world record holder in the 100 metres, 200 metres, and 4 × 100 metres relay, Usain Bolt. “He is the fastest man to ever do it and soon it’ll be me,” he said, prompting fans to advise him to prove it in actions rather than words.

Cut to this time, some social media users pointed out the consequences of Bromfield’s actions. “Who is going to trust #Junelle now. She better goh run fi USA. Cyaan wait fi boooo ar ah stadium,” the tweet said. Notably, the 26-year-old will be participating the 400m and the 4X400m relay-race in the Olympic. Teamed up with Nickisha Pryce (400m, 4X400m), Stacey Ann Williams(400m, 4X400m) and Stephenie Ann McPherson (4X400m), Lyles’ revelation is sure to put a strain in the Jamaican camp

However, from the looks of things, Lyles’ girlfriend is determined not to let the hate get to her. While she has deactivated her X account for now, Junelle uploaded an Instagram story earlier today, captioned, “Living my best life,” showing her enjoying her time aboard a flight, sipping cocktails as she took a dig at the critics. Understandably, this only aggravated the community members. One user even mentioned how the post was ill-timed and could have been avoided altogether. “That’s a stupid post junelle,” said the comment.

Junelle. You. Just. Made. It. Worse,” wrote another fan as well, noting how Junelle’s IG story could be perceived as something other than its true intentions. What’s your take on the whole fiasco? Should Paris be the couple’s sole focus now or sorting this riffraff out? Tell us more below!
