The Stade de France is waiting to be the amphitheater for the US-Jamaican rivalry on track. However, even before the games began, social media was already buzzing with anticipation of the head-to-head clash. The situation arose when Noah Lyles disclosed that he was privy to the inner workings of the Jamaican dressing room because of his relationship with Junelle Bromfield. Words like those from the flag-bearer of the arch-rival could never be embraced by fans who boast of having the upper hand in the much-touted track rivalry. So, Junelle Bromfield had to face the heat from the Jamaican fans, blamed as a ‘backstabber’, supplying news to her love interest. In reply, the 26-year-old has been showing the haters what Jamaican women sprinters show on the track—an all-out attack.

After posting her “living my best life” message on July 16, Bromfield shared a biblical verse today. On her Instagram story, Junelle used ISA 54:17 to narrate her war cry that says, “No weapon formed against me shall prosper, and every tongue that rises up against me You shall condemn.”

Subsequently, she delivered the meaning of the verse, and that shows Noah Lyles’ girlfriend is only caring for the almighty when her countrymen have gone against her, forgetting her contribution to the Jamaican sport.

Forming an essential part of the Jamaican athletic team, Junelle Bromfield helped the 4x400m relay team win the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. The following year, she continued her stellar performances at the World Indoor and Outdoor Championships, bringing home even more prestigious medals. As the Paris Olympics approach, she is once again poised to bring glory to Jamaica on the track. However, these achievements have often been overshadowed since Noah Lyles appeared on Colin Waitzman’s Track World News podcast.

Released on July 15 on YouTube, the informal conversation presented one moment when Noah went deeper into the US-Jamaican rivalry. Usually known for his outspoken nature, the global champion confessed, “Junelle being Jamaican and having trained in MVP, I have been getting the drama from the Jamaican camp at least five years now. There is a lot of times I make references about Jamaicans but I am not trying to go back and forth, like I know information that other people don’t.” That put Junelle Bromfield on the gallows and the haters went brickbat on her. Today’s sharing proves that hatred is still in full swing. Although Noah Lyles expected this part of the story beforehand.

Noah Lyles enjoys the hot and cold Jamaican fans

When reggae music fills the air, you can’t expect Jamaicans to have long faces. That’s the norm in the island nation and that applies to all those Jamaican fans who keep the track discussion running on social media. Noah Lyles knows this truth. He said something about it in that same YouTube podcast.

He touted those fans as the Jamaican Twitter, adding, “Jamaican Twitter, yeah, they are ride or die people. But I love it because that’s what you want to see you want to have that nation behind you”. Currently feeling the sharp side, Junelle Bromfield is not unfamiliar with the soft touch of support. While the haters are increasing the heat on social media against her, several fans have lined up to see the flip side. Thankfully, those fans are also Jamaicans.

They have found Noah Lyles to be the culprit, while his girlfriend is facing backlash. So comments likeThat’s Noah’s fault, why is everyone going in on Junelle? Please she’s your country’s athlete and you’re hoping she goes out in the first round, have some respect” are not so hard to find out. And that’s the support for her. Before the Paris Olympics, Junelle Bromfield would take those as her motivation to move forward.
