Continuing the legacy of the Usain Bolt-Justin Gatlin rivalry, Noah Lyles and Christian Coleman have set the American fanbase ablaze with ‘who’s better’ debates. While Lyles is the fastest man in the world at the moment, Coleman is the undisputed king at 60 meters. However, his dominance has been challenged hard recently.

Lyles and Noah faced off first in 2019, and it was the former who emerged victorious in the 100-meter sprint. The arch-rivals have met multiple times since then, but the sword has hung in balance till now. But as we approach the Olympics, Lyles looks to snatch the throne in full throttle.

The World Athletics Indoor Championships roll inside Glasgow from March 1 to 3, and it will be a mouthwatering contest as Noah Lyles and Christian Coleman face off once again. They last met at the 2024 USATF Indoor Championships, and it was enthralling.

Lyles clocked 6.43s to beat the 60m record holder, who fell 0.01 seconds short. It was the first time the 2023 World Champion beat Coleman in the 60-meter sprint, but would he go back to back at the World Athletic Indoor Championships?

Lyles 6.43 seconds marked his personal best in the 60-meter sprint, but Coleman holds the world record of 6.34 seconds. However, the latter hasn’t been in the best of form lately. He clocked 6.51 seconds in his first meet of the year, and while he managed to tie Lyles’ previous timing of the World Indoor Grand Prix, the 5x Diamond League champion went 0.01 second faster.

As they face Glasgow on March 1, while the odds seem even, the internet weighs in on the mega showdown.

Fans pick between Lyles and Coleman for the World Indoor Meet

Just like it is on the track, it was a close contest between fans of Noah Lyles and Christian on X (formerly Twitter). While Noah was backed by his hot form, Coleman’s comeback couldn’t be written off either.

You can’t write off Noah Lyles when he’s pushed hard. And pushing him hard is the rivalry with Coleman, mentioned one fan.

At the USATF Indoor Championships, Coleman led the 60m faceoff for the first part but couldn’t match his pace with Lyles in the latter half. The slow start has been a concern for the Olympic champion, and a fan argued, that it could be his wrongdoing at the World Indoor meet.
