Noah Lyles, whose 60m dash is still fresh in our memory, had nabbed the much-awaited by outclassing Christian Coleman in his forte. The popular threepeat star had also performed otherworldly in the New Balance Grand Prix to nab the 60m victory. On the other hand, there’s already the 60m Indoors World Record holder Coleman, whose winning time of 6.34s is still untouched.

In Glasgow, scheduled to take place from March 1 to 3, the World Athletics Indoor Championships roll in featuring these arch-rivals. But considering Lyles’ run as per his recent performances, more eyes are on him for many reasons. To alert global fans, the 26-year-old 200m reigning champ has come up with the most anticipated update, as a rematch looms.

According to his recent Instagram post, the sprint treble specialist has captioned, “1 Week Till World Indoor Championships!”. The video clip paired with it is nothing short of fiery. When he blazed through to outpace Coleman, who had an initial lead, Lyles’ performance received accolades from fans and commentators alike. “I am not going to say I’m shocked, but I’m proud as hell of myself. 8 years in the making”, was what he said after he achieved the most coveted. The commentators also shrieked, “For the first time ever Noah Lyles has beaten Christian Coleman in the 60m,” on that occasion.

But moving past the “greatest in the world” with a winning time of 6.43s was not enough for the 26-year-old. He looks to lock horns with his greatest adversary to challenge the record time again. But the 60m holds a special position in his heart. Let’s hear what he said about it.

Lyles’ weakness came to the fore

The one who made waves with his 100m and 200m feats at the 2023 World Championships, struggled to make it to the 60m roster. “I was just ready to make the team and be like, I’m gonna do like I did Worlds in 2023 in the 100. But no, it’s a different ballgame. This is my weakest event so come outdoor, whew, fireworks”, said the one who sports confidence at all times.

“This is the only team I’ve yet to make, and I just made it, and I came in first, and I’m a world leader. I mean, all things that I didn’t expect to be, honest”, he added. For 39 times, he had triumphed in the 200m under 20s, which positioned him beside track virtuoso Usain Bolt. With Glasgow looming large, let us not overlook one more fact: Paris is only 153 days away. And the build-up to that could not have been better for Lyles.
