In the recent Lets Run Track Talk, titled, “Noah Lyles and Lance Brauman podcast,” the duo intensely discuss the prevalence of doping in the sprinting sport. There have been multiple concerns surrounding Jamaican sprinters, namely Usain Bolt’s world record-setting 100-meter dash. While some attribute it to the use of performance-enhancing drugs, Lyles defends it acknowledging him as a “genetic freak” and a gifted athlete.

Lyles adds, “He’s a gifted guy. This is not just all about drugs.” The podcast also quotes, Remy Korchenev, a scientific expert, who although believes that while Bolt is naturally gifted, the eye-raising improvement in the performance of Jamaican sprinters raises doubts about drug use. It is also due to the lack of robust drug testing procedures in Jamaica because of logistical issues, lax enforcement, and potential collaboration with authorities.

While the pervasive issue wraps up the athletic performances of Jamaican sprinters into the narrative, Lyles has stood by Bolt’s records attributing it solely to his talent.
