Noah Lyles' mom stepping up for Junelle Bromfield—Is family support the key to overcoming tough times?

Junelle Bromfield has been dealing with a tough time in the past few months. In fact, the sprinter was handed the shorthand of the stick by track and field fans. “I have been getting cyber bullied for weeks,” she stated last month. But her beau, Noah Lyles, stood by her side. Under her post, the 27-year-old called her an inspiration for every little girl who looks up to her. However, she hasn’t been able to move past this and is contemplating an essential decision.

The Olympian’s mother, Keisha Bishop, took it upon herself to help the Jamaican deal with the unfortunate situation. The mangoes in her nation are known for their rich texture, and it looks like the sprinter has been craving them. So what did Bishop do? She decided to get Bromfield her very own mango tree. Bishop shared a video of her wholesome present on Instagram, captioned, “Got @junellebromfield a mango 🥭 tree!”

As the duo approached the tree, Bromfield stated, “Oh, that’s how mango leaves are.” The ‘tree’ in question is more like a sapling at the moment. However, Keisha was worried the plant didn’t look as healthy. After reassuring Lyles’ mother, the Jamaican proudly proclaims, “Everybody, that’s MY mango tree.” The camera then pans over to Bishop, with the 26-year-old asking her to reiterate the same to her fans.

Lyles’ mother chimed in“Junelle says she likes mangoes, so I bought her tree.” The Jamaican added, “So now I will be having mangoes in America, the good one too.” Bishop enthusiastically agrees. However, the wholesome reaction soon takes a hilarious turn, with her bringing the conversation back to the leaves. The sprinter reassures her that the leaves are supposed to look the way they do. Relieved, she admitted that she almost started praying for the tree to recover. We can almost envision that!

This isn’t the first time Bishop has had her back. After tragically losing her mother, Sandra Farquharson, in 2021, Junelle Bromfield wasn’t able to cope with the situation. But after she made it official with Noah Lyles, his mother loved the Jamaican as her own. Bishop drove the sprinter to and from training to show up with the Jamaican flag on her nails during Paris. But even though this lighthearted moment got Bromfield smiling wide, she has been dealing with a tiresome ordeal.

Have an interesting take?

Before we delve further into that, here’s what started it all. Noah Lyles appeared in a casual sit-down conversation with Track World News in July. However, while talking about Paris and track, his rivalry with Jamaica came up. The Olympian famously stated, “Junelle being Jamaican and having trained in MVP, I have been getting the drama from the Jamaican camp at least 5 years now.” The duo started as friends before it blossomed into a loving relationship.

Even though the 27-year-old didn’t mean any malice by his comment, fans weren’t too pleased by it. Junelle Bromfield was eventually called a traitor. But things went from bad to worse during the Paris Olympics. The sprinter helped her nation clinch a bronze in the 4x400m at the Japanese capital. However, they missed making the podium this time. She even failed to make it past the semi-finals in the 400m race.

This led to a massive outroar, with fans sending her death threats. It even went as far as to warn her to stay away from Jamaica. The sprinter addressed this on ‘Sim Soul Sessions.’ The host shared a snippet from the interview: “I had to turn off my inbox because I was getting death threats.” This harrowing experience had the 26-year-old view everything from a different perspective.

However, it has also made her question if she wants to run anymore. After losing her mother, Junelle Bromfield threw herself into the sport. It helped her momentarily forget about her life. However, even if she continues running, she isn’t too sure if she will do it for Jamaica. But even though it looks like she has to navigate a harsh situation right now, it’s good to see Keisha Caine Bishop’s gesture put a smile back on her face.
