Being at the top of the pecking order doesn’t mean you won’t have a target on your back. While Noah Lyles bagged the World’s Fastest Man tag at the Paris Olympics, skeptical sneers about his true worth are never too far away. Among them, his chances to win a race against Miami Dolphins’ wide receiver Tyreek Hill is an endless supply of debate among US sports fans. And now, it just fueled more air into the ongoing fire.

The dispute between NFL and track and field stars as to who among them is the fastest set of athletes has been a popular one for ages. The argument only ensued with both Hill and Lyles throwing shades at each other across social media. The Olympian sprinter has long expressed his conviction that the NFL star isn’t really interested in going after the former, and Lyles’ latest dig has taken the lid off the debate once again.

Noah recently stirred up the pot after going head-to-head with YouTube sensation IShowSpeed in a race organized by MrBeast. Unsurprisingly, Lyles was the first to cross the finishing line, but Hill couldn’t help but chuckle at how close the margin was. Highlighting that the social media star gave the Virginia native a difficult time, Tyreek claimed that Lyles’ dreams of beating him in a flat race were unfounded, but the reigning Olympic champ also retorted back. Poking a jibe at the young football celebrity, Lyles wrote in his post on X from November 7, “Awww feeling left out. I’ll dance across the line on you too.

Despite the loss, IShowSpeed looks to be excited for the race. Furthermore, the fact that the winner was to receive $100,000 from MrBeast only added to the exhilaration. Afterward, in his signature style, IShowSpeed attempted to downplay Noah’s victory by claiming that the Olympic medalist was in fact the loser. But fans seem to look at their race from a whole different perspective.

Surely enough, the fans were once again divided as to who would be the winner if Tyreek Hill and Noah Lyles indeed locked horns. One fan, going by the username ARTIF4CT, claimed that Lyles’ chances against Tyreek are slim, especially after seeing how close was IShowSpeed at beating the 100m specialist. “You barely beat speed bro no way you beat ty,” opined this fan in the comment section of Lyles’ post. But it wasn’t long before others came forward dissing this claim.

Brian Egan, as a long-term fan of track and field, was confident that Lyles was merely cajoling with IShowSpeed. “Maybe I’m wrong, but as a track dad, who watched a ton of Olympics across the years, this looked like Noah was toying with him,” opined this fan, mentioning that the YouTuber didn’t bring out the Olympian’s full potential. Last month, celebrity Hollywood star Terry Crews revealed that he’s interested in making a race between Lyles and Hill a reality, and fans claimed that it wouldn’t be any competition. Egan also seems to think in a similar trajectory.

Speed also chimed in on the matter in the comment section and noted how Hill has no chance against the reigning men’s 100m world champ Noah Lyles. Jeering at how Tyreek is yet to beat him in a race, IShowSpeed wrote, “tyreek u gotta get through me first.” Speed is known for his social media antics, where he often pushes himself to the limits, performing incredible stunts. Knowing his erratic nature, we wouldn’t be surprised if he really gives Hill a chance to prove his mettle before taking on Lyles.

However, another fan seems to be on the side of the NFL star in case the race actually happened. Previously, some New York Giants players mentioned that not just Hill, but Maalik Nabers also has the potential to defeat Lyles in a race, and this fan also voiced a similar opinion by warning Noah, “Tyreek is beating you bro.

Race him then,” Zoe also dared the freshly-crowned Olympic gold medalist to go toe-to-toe with Hill if he’s so confident about his prowess. However, Ricky is sure that Lyles won’t have to break a sweat to defeat Tyreek. “The funny thing is Noah probably hasn’t even trained much and still would beat Ty,” said this fan flatly.
