A little support can get you a long way. So much so, that it can even help you to stand your ground when the whole world doubts your credibility. While Noah Lyles never strayed far away when his Jamaican girlfriend Junelle Bromfield needed him, he still can’t hold back on his emotions when he hears her talking about how critics got into her head.
Bromfield recently appeared in an intimate interview with celebrity journalist Simone Clarke for an episode of Sim Soul Sessions. After the interview, Lyles was seen once again commending his beau for the incredible resilience she has shown in the face of public backlash. In an Instagram post by Clarke from September 23, the Fastest Man In The World was heard talking about how Bromfield’s lucid confession made him tear up.

In the interview, Bromfield narrated how she’s afraid to return to her native country because of the hatred she’s received from her countrymen including death threats. Naturally, it was a hard pill to swallow for Lyles, who could hardly handle seeing his beloved open up publicly about her mental stress. In the post shared by Clarke, Noah can be heard hailing Junelle for showing bravery, making her evidently emotional. The host turns her attention toward the Virginia native asking where did he disappear in the middle of the interview.
After some prompts from Bromfield, Lyles also confessed that the scenes unfolding in front of him were too emotional for him to keep a straight face. “I did cry. I was fine, then suddenly in the middle of it…” Lyles grinned. With that, he also commended Clarke for doing a tremendous job of bringing Bromfield’s story to the fans with her empathic approach to the interview. While Clarke pondered over the possibility of getting Lyles to do an interview for her show, the Olympian couple made it apparent that their mental health is the top priority at the moment.

Ever since Lyles spilled the beans earlier this year about how Bromfield supplied him with inside information from the Jamaican camp, his girlfriend had to face a massive verbal onslaught from track fans across the world. “I have been getting the drama from Jamaican camps for at least five years now,” Lyles said in an interview earlier this year, and all hell broke loose for the sprinting couple. However, Bromfield didn’t let the criticism get to her in the beginning and instead made it clear that she leads a life that understandably evokes envy among her fans from time to time. “Living my best life because all these insult in the comments ain’t paying for these class flight!!” retorted Junelle on social media, but it wasn’t long before the extensive hate caught up with her.
