Noah Lyles is unhappy with Peacock and so are the track and field fans. What was expected to be an exciting affair of athletes competing at the Miramar Invitational turned out to be an absolute dampener. Starting today, the Miramar Invitational was supposed to feature some of the biggest track and field athletes trying to master their crafts ahead of the Paris Olympics. Ahead of the tournament, Peacock promised to livestream the entire event to let the fans catch a glimpse of their favorite athletes.

Unfortunately, the reality was far from being what everyone had expected. Once the fans tuned in to the live stream, they were shocked to find that the entire tournament was missing in action. Such a slip up from Peacock made the fans go into a frenzy. And what’s more, Noah Lyles also joined the bashing club.

Noah Lyles seemed pretty much annoyed by the fact that the live stream of the event was not being aired on Peacock. Taking to his X account, Lyles stated, “I guess the track meet isn’t on peacock🫤” However, this was not the first instance when the track and field realm was being affected by such an issue.

Last year, NBC announced their reluctance to air the US Championships. This came as a shock to the entire community, as this would be the first instance in 17 years that the US Championship will not be televised on NBC. Expressing her disdain on the matter, US track and field star Sha’Carri Richardson blamed the organization for the lack of exposure of track and field talents. She also mentioned USATF on CNBC in her Instagram stories to convey her concerns. Not only Richardson, but legendary athlete Michael Johnson also doubled down from the NBC controversy from a year ago.

Lending full support to the athletes, Johnson stated, “That’s unfortunate since over 3 billion people are watching the sport once a year during those major championships and have an expressed interest to continue watching the sport if there was a place to do so.” However, all these protests seemingly failed to change the dynamics of the track and field broadcast. And surely, fans were angry.

Fans angry over Peacock’s inability to deliver

Several fans immediately started to bash the network for their failure to get live coverage. One of the fans was infuriated and added a tweet regarding the same.

Another track and field enthusiast resonated with the words and emotions of Noah Lyles and shared a personal opinion regarding how tough it’s getting to watch track and field live.

While another user hilariously added that it seems to them that Peacock now finds “no point” in streaming the event after Sha’carri Richardson and Shericka Jackson did not participate in the race.
