As Noah Lyles’ Olympic journey awaits its kick-off, he might be running a little short on support. The 26-year-old is one of the USA’s best bets to bring home gold from the French capital later this year, but his Jamaican girlfriend has her own goals to achieve as well. While the reigning world champ prepares to set the tracks on fire tomorrow at Eugene, it looks like Junelle Bromfield is gearing up to fulfill her own dreams 3,000 miles away.
Clermont has been a pretty bountiful place for Bromfield, who ran some incredible laps at the National Training Center in April this year, earning the top podium of the 400m event in 52.13 seconds. However, her later stint at the USATF Bermuda Grand Prix did not yield favorable results. Despite her pre-event practice schedule with Lyles, the 26-year-old ended up taking 5th place, posting 54.09 seconds. And now, as she looks Paris Olympics dead in the eye, her dedication to the national team has taken precedence over her personal life.
In her recent Instagram story, Junelle shared a glimpse of the harrowing weather conditions in the Florida city. In the attached image, it can be seen that Clermont is currently experiencing around 78 degrees temperature, but the Olympic medalist claimed the situation is worse than it looks.

“This honestly feels like 90+,” vented the Jamaican, making the lack of visible sun seem insignificant. It appears Junelle is making her final preparations to claim the top spot in Paris, after clinching Bronze in the 4X400m relay division, in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
While Bromfield looks to use all the resources at her disposal to make it to her second straight Olympic team (with the Jamaican Track and Field Team Trials slated for June 27-30), the 400m specialist also loves spending time with the USA’s main man. After the 2023 season, Lyles and his girlfriend spent their time off in Jamaica. During this vacation, he came closer to his girlfriend’s heritage. Moreover, the intense rivalry between the US and Jamaica in track events doesn’t strain their relationship either.
Noah Lyles and Junelle Bromfield have their priorities straight
It’s been about two years since the two went public with their romantic relationship, and the world’s gaze has never been far from them since. Notably, the American track and field athlete has also forged a special connection with his girlfriend’s native place. While the island nation is already a frequent destination spot for the couple, the country’s reception to Lyles has been wholesome, too.
Talking to reporters during a press conference at the Jamaica Pegasus last month, the Olympic bronze medalist said, “I’ll go to New York, but all the other cities, it’s like, ‘Ah, you might get something good, you might not’. It’s a coin flip, unless it’s the Olympics. When you go to Jamaica, I tell everybody you’re treated like a freaking rock star. It’s nothing that you’re gonna get anywhere else. Like all of a sudden, people know who you are and they’re giving favours for you and they act like you’re freaking Will Smith or something. I’m like, goodness gracious…”

However, considering the list of achievements they boast, many might think that Noah is the bigger personality. But Bromfield has never paid heed to what social media says about their chemistry. “Noah is the one that encouraged me to build my profile and start posting…I don’t care about what people has to say at the end of the day,” Bromfield was heard saying in an interview with Jamaican track icon Asafa Powell.
Perhaps the track power couple’s love for each other stems from their mutual dedication, despite their busy schedules. Just last year in August, Bromfield showed up with Lyles’ mother to support the 26-year-old during the 2o23 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary. In a wholesome moment, after Lyles clinched gold in the men’s 100m, he rushed to hug the two ladies, jumping in joy.

However, this year the reality is a bit different as Junelle is currently focusing on her Olympic aspirations while Noah prepares to secure his spot on the national team and the American delegation to the French metropolitan. Noah will step up to the starting line with some of the nation’s top sprinters in Eugene tomorrow, but many of his fans argue that his flight to Paris is already somewhat assured. Only time will tell if Lyles has what it takes to get the final green flag, despite not having one of his closest allies cheering for him from the stands.
