Home/Track & Field

Noah Lyles has not just been the fastest man on track, but his social media game has been equally strong. Since taking the Gold medal at Paris in 100m, Lyles has been consistently in the spotlight. Not so long ago, Noah went on to post a behind-the-scenes clip from the Beyond the Records podcast, hosted by Lyles himself. The guests this time?

The behind-the-scenes video saw none other than the Olympian-Paralympian duo of Tara Davis-Woodhall and her husband, Hunter Woodhall. The two, of course, brought their infectious energy to the set. Amidst the casual conversation was chatter about Mr.Beast and IShowSpeed. This would be perfectly normal considering the recent $100,000 race. Remember that?

Noah Lyles went head-to-head against the popular YouTuber IShowSpeed in a viral 50-meter dash. The race was organized by none other than Mr.Beast, who put up $100,000 on the line for the winner. And as expected, Lyles went on to win the race. However, it turned out to be a controversial one that brought in a lot of traction because Speed and Lyles were ridiculously close! So what’s the latest update?

In the video, Hunter Woodhall slips up and gives away something about an upcoming episode! “Oh wait, you guys were doing the speed thing, asks Hunter. And the response? Well, in true Lyles style, he goes on to say, “Yeah, he (IShowSpeed) actually reached out to us!” It comes as no surprise that the 50m dash was pure entertainment gold. Remember when Speed argued he had won the race?

After the viral race, Speed went on to argue that he could have won the race if it were 40m. While Lyles disagreed, there is no debate about the fact that the footage became the talking point. The virality of the same cannot be disputed and it is perhaps exactly that, which has gotten Speed to reach out to Lyles. However, that was not all that went down in the viral video!

Remember the challenge that Noah Lyles and IShowSpeed shook hands over?

In the viral video, Speed goes on to challenge Noah Lyles to a rematch. Speed goes so far as to say, “You barely won barely won.” However, as Speed continued to talk about it, Lyles was composed. He confidently accepts the challenge. In fact, he does Speed one better! Lyles goes on to say, “You should practice with me, and then at the end of the week, we’ll race again.” So if the race was as close as Speed claims, why this move?

Well, as the 100m Olympic champion sees it, “You’ll be faster, you’ll know what to do, you’ll have the techniques, you’ll have the advantage.” Evidently, Lyles is all about fair play. And let’s not forget that Lyles won the Gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics clocking 9.78. He even followed that up with a Bronze in 200m despite a COVID diagnosis. So clearly, Lyles is a man aware of his speed. However, the next race if it happens will not be a 50m or 40m dash!

As Noah Lyles puts it, Then we can run the real man’s race, the 100 (meters).” The two go on to shake hands about the same. And Speed goes on to add, “If I had technique, I am faster than you.” Well, the big question now is, is the Speed appearing on the Lyles podcast just both of them capitalizing on the virality? Or is it the prelude to a possible 100m race against Speed?
