Tyreek Hill better keeps looking over his shoulder. The Miami Dolphins wide receiver is a frequent topic of discussion when it comes to which NFL stars could possibly beat track sensation Noah Lyles in a head-on battle. Just days ago, Hill claimed he could beat Lyles in a race, even if not by much. But the Olympian seems to have had enough and wouldn’t mind setting the record straight to put an end to the debate.
Lyles’ time at the 2024 Paris Olympics may not have been as illustrious as he had hoped, but he’s not one to shy away from a challenge at any time. When the Florida native failed to finish first in the men’s 100m heats at the Paris Games, he noted that the disappointing result made him hungrier than ever to prove himself. Now, as the NFL star keeps running his mouth, Lyles seems ready to address the matter at hand.
Appearing for an interview for Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson’s Nightcap podcast on YouTube just a couple of hours ago, the sprinter admitted he’s up for meeting Hill on the tracks should the latter wish to. “The man dodges smoke, I don’t got time for that,” Lyles slammed, accusing Tyreek Hill of just juggling words instead of showing up to face the music of his comments. His response prompted the podcast hosts to holler at Hill to draw his attention to Noah Lyles’ comments. Lyles went a step further and revealed that he wouldn’t mind racing Hill in a 100m dash if the latter made up his mind about it.

“If he’s serious about it, not just talking on the internet … if you’re serious about it, you’ll see me on track,” the Olympic gold medalist didn’t beat around the bush and served the ball in Hill’s court. However, despite his willingness to cross paths with the Dolphins star, Lyles didn’t let the opportunity slide without taking a sly potshot of his own.
“Imma be honest, I forget his name all the time,” said Noah Lyles at one point in the interview, claiming that his attention span doesn’t go much beyond track and League of Legends. While the sprinter said his piece on the issue, he’s not alone in thinking Tyreek Hill has a slim chance of pulling a fast one over him.

Noah Lyles has many believers in his corner
Even though the 30-year-old football athlete places massive faith in his abilities, not everyone seems to be on the same page with his opinions. Retired track and field icon and four-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Johnson is among those who are skeptical about whether Hill has what it takes to edge past professional sprinters.
In a post on X from June, Johnson cleared the air around the debate and ascertained Hill might be over his head if he believes track athletes are easy prey. “He’s amazing, he’s quick, he’s fast, he talked about how he can beat Usain Bolt. Usain Bolt is the fastest in the world, our athletes at Grand Slam Track are the fastest in the world, so, while Tyreek is fast on the field against those DBs, he will not be able to stay with our Grand Slam Track racers,” said Johnson in his social media post as he shared his excitement about his ambitious project that’s scheduled to take flight from April next year.

Mirroring the American’s view, Jamaican track phenome Bolt also brushed off the possibility of being beaten by Miami’s NFL star. “Not even in a next universe,” chuckled Usain Bolt in his X post from earlier this year. Furthermore, not all football stars share Hill’s optimism either. When New York Giants star Jermaine Eluemunor was asked if his teammate Malik Naber could win a race against Lyles, the tackler wasn’t too sure. “The man trains for that every single day,” said Eluemunor.
