The 2021 World Athletic Championships are going on inside Budapest’s National Athletics Centre, and before the race director announces “get set”, all kinds of doubts are surrounding the 2020 Olympic Bronze Medalist Noah Lyles. But just 10 seconds after the pistol is fired, Lyles is the World Champion. “They said it couldn’t be done. They said I wasn’t the one. But thank God I am”, he hums after clocking 9.83 seconds in the 100m race to become the fastest man on Earth. And since then, the 26-year-old has been pitted to imitate the GOAT.
