Flavor Flav's iconic clock for Tara Davis-Woodhall—what's your take on this legendary moment?

Remember that electric moment at the Paris Olympics when Tara Davis-Woodhall soared with all the power of a dream come true? As she fell backward into the sandpit, the crowd’s cheers echoed a truth she had long awaited—Tara had clinched gold, and her name would forever be etched in Olympic glory.

This victory was more than just a medal for the 25-year-old—it was sweet redemption. After a tough second-place finish at last year’s world championships, Davis-Woodhall launched herself 7.1 meters, or more than 23 feet, in her fourth attempt that night. No one else, not even Germany’s reigning Olympic gold medalist Malaika Mihambo, could reach her record-setting distance. But wait, did she just win Olympic fame? Here comes another honor that adds to the love and appreciation given to this incredible athlete!

Kansas City’s Griffin Davis, a Director of Photography with an eye for unforgettable moments, hopped on Instagram stories on November 10 to share a super cool video of Tara Davis-Woodhall with the one and only Flavor Flav, who has been a major cheerleader for U.S. women athletes, especially since he’s a proud “girl dad” to six daughters!. Griffin’s story captured the moment when Flavor Flav gifted Tara his iconic clock necklace.

She lit up and reposted the same story on her Instagram account, smiling ear to ear as she put on the pink clock necklace. The two then posed together, looking like a true dream team. Griffin summed it up perfectly with his caption, “What a legend. An icon, honestly. So thankful for everything you do for women’s sports,” tagging Flavor Flav, Tara, and the Steps of Faith Foundation.

Steps of Faith Foundation has one big goal: to reconnect amputees with their families, communities, and jobs by easing the costs of prosthetic care. In 2023, they raised a whopping $900,000, bringing their total to over $3 million in just seven years! This year’s lineup of supporters is stacked, including Olympic star Tara Davis-Woodhall and Flavor Flav himself.

In May, Flav took his support for women’s sports to another level. Proudly calling it an “honor” to back USA Water Polo, he promised to help fund Captain Maggie Steffens and her team—and stuck by that promise, flying to Paris to cheer them on. He even dropped a message on Instagram saying, “As a girl dad and supporter of all women’s sports – imma personally sponsor you my girl, whatever you need. And imma sponsor the whole team!”

And just like with Tara Davis Woodhall, Flav gave another of his famous clock necklaces to a fellow athlete, showing he’s the ultimate hypeman for women’s sports!

It’s not just Tara Davis-Woodhall who received Flavor Flav’s iconic clock honor

Let’s rewind to the Olympics, where Team USA gymnast Jordan Chiles faced her storm of challenges. After her emotional floor exercise in the Paris Olympics finals, a controversy hung over her ranking because of some questionable judging calls. That’s when Flavor Flav, ever the cheerleader for U.S. women’s sports, decided she deserved something special.

In August, with the gymnastics world still buzzing over the CAS ruling that dropped Jordan from the floor finals, Flav made his mark. Known for supporting Team USA, including financially backing the women’s water polo team, he stepped in when Chiles’ Olympic journey took an unexpected turn. On August 11, he took to X with a promise: “Ayyy YOOOO @ChilesJordan, imma make you a BRONZE CLOCK NECKLACE, and that’s something NO ONE else has! Hit me up my girl, I gotcha!!!”

The next day, he proudly displayed the unique clock necklace, though Chiles had taken a social media break to process it all. Thankfully, her mom, Gina, saw the post and assured Flav she’d share the heartfelt message. So, whether it’s for Jordan Chiles, the women’s polo team, or Tara Davis-Woodhall, Flavor Flav remains the ultimate hype man, standing strong with U.S. women’s sports every step of the way!
