It hasn’t been an easy path for US track and field star Sha’Carri Richardson so far. She has been embroiled in controversies, faced some stern decisions, and was in a storm of public ire for a while. But this year, she is smashing all such pre-existing notions and proving her worth to the audience. Sha’Carri Richardson started her athletics calendar this year with a bang at the Miramar Invitational in Florida. She has only been on an upward curve since and continued it at the USATF by winning the 100m dash. Her fans and the track and field world, in general, couldn’t be prouder of her.

An Instagram post by Jeff Cohen went, “Sha’Carri Richardson, 100 meters champion. 10.82 sec. 2023 USATF Outdoor Championships, Eugene.” The pose in which Cohen captured Richardson spoke everything about the confident personality that she possesses. She was wearing a green dress and with her closed fists and frontward gesture, Richardson looked a champion.

The crowd of Eugene, Oregon erupted in celebration. This was Richardson’s one of many wins this year, including the Miramar Invitational, Kip Keino Classic, Doha Diamond League, and now the USATF. Unlike the other championships, she is a national champion now, and this also means she is qualified for the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary in August this year.

Richardson finished the race in 10.82 seconds and did so effortlessly without skipping a beat. The fans were amazed by her prowess, and this is how some of them reacted:

“Why the haters so quiet when she getting these W’s” wrote a fan who called out everyone who criticized her to date.

“The joy in your face”, wrote another fan who was delighted to see her happy after a win.

“Love to see her winning,” wrote another fan who must’ve been waiting for Richardson to showcase her prowess as a racer for a while.

“Mike drop” wrote a fan, essentially saying that she has shut everyone up who doubted her.

“The US 100 meters queen”, wrote a fan who now believes that Richardson is dominating the format.

While Sha’Carri Richardson has clearly found her mojo on the track, she still faces some stiff competition from both her US counterparts and Jamaican rivals. Gabby Thomas and Shericka Jackson are also in blazing hot form in their National qualifications. Shericka Jackson also broke Richardson’s record of 100m, which the latter registered at the Doha Diamond League. The stage is set for a terrific battle in Budapest.
