Marcell Jacobs has a son from a previous relationship from back when he was just nineteen. His name is Jeremy. During an interview, he admitted that he was not a good father to him, as he was childish and had problems with his mother. He said, “With Jeremy, who was born when I was only 19, I was not the best of fathers: I was immature, limited, the conflicts with his mother have pushed me away, but now I’m trying to make up for lost time.” He would also say that he is much more emotionally available to the children he shares with Nicole, a mark of experience and of a changed man, no less.

Jacobs’ relationship with his own estranged father is not good either. He was an American who came to Italy after his posting there in the army. There, he met his mother, who had a son with her. But as soon as Jacobs was born, he would leave for Texas. Thus, he never had a tangible relationship with him. Despite trying to mend things in the future, his father did not show up to his wedding or reply to the invitation.
