Quincy Hall just shut up his critics with a world-leading win—Is this his ultimate comeback?

Amidst the roaring cheers at the historic Hayward Field, Quincy Hall had successfully punched his ticket to the French capital. He stunned the track and field community by setting a personal best of 44.17 seconds, clinching an effortless win at the 400m finals. However, not even 13 days away from the upcoming Summer Games, the world champion has done it yet again! At the Monaco Diamond League, Hall surpassed his personal best by finishing in the men’s 400m with an impressive 43.80 seconds on the clock.

Not only did he break his own record, but he also set a new world lead! Impressive, isn’t it? Hall made the decision to switch from 400m hurdles to the flat 400m event. And his performance at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials proved it was the best decision for the former hurdler. With his world leading time in Monaco, Hall has given track and field fans a little glimpse of what they can expect. While most are excited to see him dominate the track at the French capital, some are still skeptical about his form.

The Olympian was recently put on blast for the way he runs at these thrilling events. If him shattering records wasn’t enough, Hall claps back with a post on X. “I still see alot of comments talking bout how I run. Just look at it like this not everyone gets to work the same way some people walk some people Uber some people might even drive a nice car to work but guess what they made it to work.” By the looks of it, all of this just seems like noise to the Pan American U20 Champion.

Despite the switch, Hall has proven he has what he takes by setting an impressive personal best at the historic Hayward Field. Amidst the thunderous roars from the stands, the NACAC U23 champion blazed through to the finish line with 44.17 seconds in the 400m event. Michael Norman, who clinched a gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, trailed in to finish second with 44.41 seconds on the clock. And with this, Quincy Hall had qualified for his first ever Summer Games!

Post his stellar performance, the sprinter claimed how he always knew he was destined to be a champion, and will now be looking to recreate the same result in the French capital. He also expressed how he knows the 400m is his event to Olympics.com. While the summer games are still under 2 weeks away, the world champion was unstoppable in the Monaco Diamond League. How did he fare at the event?

Trailing behind the world champion was Vernon Norwood, who had to settle for second place. But his impressive time of 44.34 seconds set a seasonal best. Lythe Pillay finished the podium with 44.58 on the clock. But Hall wasn’t too surprised by his record. He stated he knew he could run fast. “After the American trials, I knew I needed to step up my game a little bit, and that it would be enough to run this fast,” but the Olympian states there’s more to come!

In 13 days, the American sprinter will be preparing for his first Summer Games. “Going to Paris, I do not feel like I have a target on my back.” And it’s no surprise given his incredible performances in Hayward Field and Stade Louis II. The track and field events take place between 1st to 11th August at the French capital. Will we see Quincy Hall bring home Olympic glory? Only time will tell. Mark your calendars for a thrilling show!
