So getting featured in the same camp has become a matter of pride for the budding athletes. On the other hand, the LSU track and field has yet to compromise with the qualities of the athletes before taking them into the camp. For Gabriella Cunningham, the best might come yet. The 2023 season has blossomed for her in a way that LSU track and field couldn’t help but sign her in their prestigious program. Breaking the news, its Instagram post caption reads, “Welcome to the Bayou, Gabriella!” With that, the post also highlighted the youngster’s achievements from the recent past.

Hailing from Colorado, Gabriella’s best tryst with the glory has remained in the Centennial League of Colorado. The 20-year-old clinched her personal best in the divisions she took part. Before the 2024 Paris Olympics, it might be a noteworthy performance. Some of her feats have forced the athletic community to compare her eerily with another LSU sensation.?

Gabriella Cunningham in Sha’Carri Richardson’s shoes??

Sha’Carri Richardson’s continuous performances have earned her comparisons with the legendary Florence Griffith Joyner. Sha’Carri has herself admitted that she follows Flo-Jo’s style statement in several possible ways. But the reigning 100m world champion might not believe that one rising athlete is now compared to her for some coincidences.?

Both Sha’Carri and Gabriella belong to the same divisions- 60m,100m and 200 m. The divisions are present both in indoor and hurdle outings. The joining into the LSU program has come at the age of 19 years for both the athletes. However, Sha’Carri broke the 100m collegiate record in her LSU inception in that year. The time she took on that day still remains as the record in the NCAA First Division Championship. But Gabriella’s best outing in the same division took her nowhere near to Sha’Carri’s clocking. Now, it might be the best time for her to make justice to that comparison in the blue leotard.?
