The video was re-shared by the legendary American sprinter and Olympic medalist, Michael Johnson, on his X account (formerly Twitter). He captioned the image, “It could be 6-year-olds, Olympic champions, or senior citizens. People love to see the pure competition of a foot race. Especially a photo finish!” The video was originally posted by USATF on their account. The video features six incredible elderly women athletes who are competing in what looks like a 60-meter race. As soon as the race starts, these athletes start running, and all three of them reach the finish line in a jiffy. The race ends in a photo finish, and all three of them seemed to have crossed the line simultaneously.

But after analyzing the video, 83-year-old Carolyn Langenwalter was declared the winner of the race. The age category of this race was reported to be between 80 and 104. Despite Langenwalter winning the race, there was one name in particular that received all the cheers from the fans and officials present during the race. She was Julia Hawkins, who is also fondly regarded as ‘Hurricane.’ When the video of this race was posted, Hawkins’ age was 102, and she still finished the race with great dedication and grace. She also posted a new record for clocking the best time in the 100+ age category, clocking an impressive time of 24.79. This is one of the many accolades that she has under her belt.
