Is Letsile Tebogo the new king of the track, or is Noah Lyles still the man to beat?

Letsile Tebogo is absolutely on fire in 2024, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down! From clinching gold at the Summer Olympics in the 200 meters to being named ANOC Male Athlete of the Year in Paris, he’s knocked it out of the park this year. Oh, and he’s also a finalist for the World Athletics Awards 2024, with the winner set to be announced on December 1.

Looking ahead, the upcoming World Athletics Relays 2025 in Guangzhou is set to be an event with a lineup of athletes like Noah Lyles and Letsile Tebogo, gearing up for fierce competitions during the event scheduled for May 10 and 11. It will be the first time China will be hosting it. There are five competitions scheduled—the men’s and women’s 4x100m, 4x400m, and the mixed 4x400m—making it a thrilling dash to the end.

As for the qualification process, it’s not going to be easy at all. The top 16 teams from the Paris 2024 Olympics automatically qualify, meaning the stage is set for another head-to-head showdown between rivals like Tebogo and Lyles. And if you think Letsile Tebogo’s resting on his laurels, think again. Recently, he posted on X, saying, “The oval is calling,” meaning training is calling him back to the track.
