The camaraderie between Flavor Flav and Alexis Ohanian was visible on the sidelines of the Paris Olympics. Both celebrities were present in the French capital, united by a shared goal: promoting women’s sports. While Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian gave several interviews advocating for the historic Athlos NYC, the first-ever women-only track event, the rapper took on the role of cheerleader for Team USA. He also stepped in as a sponsor, motivating the American women’s water polo team. Amid all this, one wonders—did he exchange thoughts with Ohanian about the upcoming event?

It doesn’t matter now, though. According to the update, Serena Williams’ husband has already sent a message to Flavor Flav. In his reply, the 65-year-old responded in a way that perfectly fits his persona.

Yesterday, while getting back to Alexis Ohanian’s call, Flavor Flav had dropped a rhyme, almost confirming his presence on the grand stage of the Athlos NYC. Now, today, he went one step extra, putting a seal on his probable presence in the Icahn Stadium on September 26. The news came through his X-post, showcasing a clip of him performing at the iHeart Music Festival.  Meanwhile, a fan dropped a question asking him the venue for his next performance. Flav replied to the inquiry, “@athlos on Thursday in NYC [emoji]” Notably, yesterday Ohanian asked him to join Athlos NYC.

Now, Flav’s comment hints that he’ll bring his energetic rap performance to the stage, much like Snoop Dogg did for Team USA at the Paris Olympics. However, there are still three days left to see the music icon’s appearance at the women-only track contest. Megan Thee Stallion will also be performing on the same stage. Remember, the Grammy Award winner received a special round of applause when Ohanian unveiled the news of the opening ceremony. He termed her inclusion as “The fastest women in the world deserve nothing less than the best.” Now, Ohanian’s brother in arms in promoting women’s sports is joining the show. So what would be his title then? Something best, for sure, as Flavor Flav has earned this invitation for his noble job.

The steps toward making sports, great again

In May this year, Maggie Steffens felt hapless while gathering funds for her water polo team bound for the Paris Olympics. The three-time Olympic champion squad had fewer pennies to continue their expenses in Paris. Meanwhile, Steffens, the skipper, posted on social media asking for, “a 2nd or 3rd job to support chasing the dream.” Later, another key member of the team, Kaleigh Gilchrist, came forward, asking for the same. No one but Flavor Flav responded to the SOS.

Eventually, the Public Enemy member signed a five-year sponsorship deal with the US Water Polo Women’s and Men’s National teams. Beyond the financial support, Flav will continue promoting the sport through social media collaborations and by traveling to various locations as part of his role. But why did he take on such a responsibility at this stage of his career? His answer had a stunning revelation to offer.

Flavor Flav ultimately conceded, “As a girl dad and a champion of all sports, I’m excited to bring my energy and voice to this incredible sport.” Now, it is his time to go beyond water polo to take over another sport, i.e., athletics. The fans will look forward to seeing his signature energy and extraordinary voice to promote the one-of-a-kind contest.
