The iconic speedster Sha’Carri Richardson is all over the internet as Nike’s face of their newest Olympic athletic wear release. But she’s in no mood to keep her track comeback away from the paps as well. The 2023 World Championships 2x gold medalist proved her prowess bagging the 100m and 4x100m relay golds. That story of snapping back from the adversities was proof enough that she stood by her strong claim, “I’m not back, I’m better”.

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she was an inch away from making it until an unfortunate doping ban halted her dreams. But in 2023, she left no stone unturned to fly past her Jamaican counterparts, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson, when it came to beating them in their fortes. Is she repeating that feat at the upcoming Xiamen Diamond League?

Will it be a smooth road to glory for Sha’Carri Richardson?

The former Louisiana State University champion left behind promising names like Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the iconic 100m dash. Jackson is officially the fastest woman in the 200m and the fifth fastest woman in the 100m. On the other hand, Fraser-Pryce is a 3-time Olympic gold medalist and has 10 World Championship gold medals under her belt. Beating these promising figures was the highlight of SCR’s career and has helped her steer her journey forward.

In the recently released entry list, two American names look convincing, who can pose a threat to the reeling champion Richardson. At the 2023 World Championships, Tamara Clark was a member of the 4x100m relay team alongside SCR. But at the Xiamen Diamond League, she will be placed in the starting line with her arch-rival. On the other hand, there’s Twanisha Terry who graces the DL list as a strong entrant from the US. How will it be for the 24-year-old to face her confidante?

Terry was a champion athlete in her NCAA days with several Division 1 medals in her store. Since Richardson also made waves in the NCAA with her strong displays, she looked up to the former’s prowess on track. And legit, we both have the same goals. We both have the same heart when it comes to this when it comes to being an athlete. I love me some Tee Tee. I love me some tweets“, said Sha’Carri Richardson on a Real Talk episode.

Always prioritizing ‘sisterhood’ over competitiveness, the Paris hopeful will put her dramatic self forward on track starting in Xiamen. This being her 2024 debut and also a major outdoor event, will act as a springboard for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
